Railways to install CCTV cameras in over 7,000 train coaches by 2021
- The railways have set a target to install CCTV cameras in more than 7,000 coaches of mainline passenger trains by March 2021.
- CCTV cameras have already been installed in coaches of premium, mail, express and suburban trains.
- The cameras have also been installed in one thousand 300 coaches of mainline passenger trains.
- The provision of CCTV cameras in the remaining coaches will be taken up thereafter.

PM Modi announces an ex-gratia for Banjar mishap victims
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of two lakh rupees each for the families of those killed in the Banjar bus accident.
- Financial help of 50,000 rupees has also been sanctioned for each of the injured in the accident.
- The ex-gratia was sanctioned out of the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).
- An overloaded private bus had fallen into a deep gorge near Banjar in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district on June 20 in which about 45 persons were killed and 33 were injured.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi flags off 1st batch of Haj pilgrims
- Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi flagged off the first batch of Haj pilgrims from Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.
- 419 Haj pilgrims including 202 women left from Delhi in the first flight.
- These Haj pilgrims are from Aligarh, Agra, Meerut, Rampur and Bulandshahar in Uttar Pradesh.
- A total of 2,340 Muslim women from the country will go for Haj without Mehram this year, while 1180 women had performed Haj last year without Mehram.

First investors’ summit to be held in J&K
- Jammu and Kashmir will host it’s first-ever investor summit in September-October of this year in Srinagar, to attract investment and counter perceptions about the State.
J&K: 50 Lakh trees to be planted by June 2020
- In Jammu and Kashmir, the Governor’s Administration has approved the launch of Green Jammu and Kashmir drive from July 8, 2019.
- Under this major environment-friendly initiative 50 Lakh trees will be planted by June 2020.
- The massive plantation drive shall be organized by the Forest, Environment & Ecology Department by involving Panchayats, Civil Society and other Institutions.

- Similar drive shall be undertaken as part of Green J&K Initiative in the month of November-December in Kashmir region and winter zones of Jammu region and thereafter in March-April.
Jagannath Rath Yatra begins
- The world-famous Jagannath Rath Yatra began today at Puri in Odisha.
- Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra dedicated to Lord Jagannath, brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra begins.
- The Rath Yatra marks the journey from Jagannath temple to Gundicha temple.
- This journey covers a distance of 17Km in Puri.

RBI sets up panel to review CICs
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has set up a working group which is headed by Tapan Ray, non-executive chairman, Central Bank of India and former Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
- The objective of this group is to review the regulatory and supervisory framework for core investment companies (CIC).
- The panel will examine the current regulatory framework for CICs in terms of adequacy, efficacy and effectiveness and suggest changes.

- Indian sprinter Hima Das won the women’s 200m gold in the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix in Poland.
- National record holder shot putter Tajinder Pal Singh Toor bagged a bronze.
- V K Vismaya finished third with a personal best time of 23.75 seconds in the race at Poznan.
OBITUARIES
AIR’s former newsreader Barun Haldar passes away
- Former Newsreader of All India Radio Barun Haldar passed away in Kolkata at an age of 87.
- He was a popular presenter of Western Music in AIR Kolkata before shifting to AIR Delhi as English Newsreader.
- He retired as Chief Newsreader of AIR in 1990.

Exam for Regional Rural Banks to be conducted in 13 regional languages
- The government today announced that recruitment examination of Regional Rural Banks, RRBs will be conducted in 13 regional languages in addition to English and Hindi.
- The candidate has the option to choose the regional language of the State, they have opted for the examination. The decision will be implemented from this year onwards.
- The regional languages are Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malyalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
