UIDAI : 1st Aadhaar Seva Kendra in Delhi and Vijayawada

  • The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has operationalized 1st ‘Aadhaar Seva Kendra’ (ASKs) in Delhi and Vijayawada.
  • The new centres are functioning on a pilot basis.
  • UIDAI’s ambitious plan is to set up 114 such centers by the end of 2019.
  • The objective of setting these new centers is to provide more touch points to public for availing Aadhaar enrolment and updating services and other related services.
  • The Delhi centre is located at Akshardham metro station premises and has a capacity to handle 1,000 enrolment/updation requests a day.
  • Vijayawada Centre’s capacity is half that of the Delhi centre.

UP govt to set up Committees in all 25 districts situated on banks of river Ganga

  • In Uttar Pradesh, State Government has decided to set up Ganga Committees in all 25 districts situated on the banks of river Ganga.
  • The objective of setting this committee is to clean the holly river.
  • Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and discussed issues like water conservation, revival of dry rivers, rainwater harvesting and plantation drive.
  • The state has listed 15 rivers which gone dry at present and will be revived under the action plan.
  • A total of 85 projects related to Clean Ganga Mission worth 1185 crore rupees are running in the state, out of which 15 have been completed so far.

  • The United States has declared the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) as a global terrorist organization.
  • Pakistan banned the outfit in 2006 and have been urging the US to do the same.

Ola Electric invests $250million funding from SoftBank

  • Ola Electric Mobility Pvt. Ltd has raised about $250 million from SoftBank Group Corp.
  • The electric vehicle unit Ola becomes the newest unicorn from India.
  • Japanese investor paid a total of Rs 1,725.04 crore (around $250 million).
  • The SoftBank funding was received on Tuesday in light of a special resolution passed by the board of Ola Electric on June 25
  • SoftBank will end up owning about 22-24% stake in Ola Electric.

N S Vishwanathan gets one year extension as RBI deputy governor

  • Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Deputy Governor N S Vishwanathan has been given a one-year extension by the government.
  • According to RBI law, of the four deputy governors, two are outside specialists — usually an economist and a career banker, while two are career RBI central bankers.
  • The Department of Banking Regulation (headed by Vishwanathan) and Department of Currency Management (headed by B P Kanungo) are reserved for RBI insiders. Monetary Policy Department (headed by Viral Acharya) and Department of Banking Supervision (headed by M K Jain) are reserved for outsiders.

  • He served State Bank of India as Deputy Managing Director and Chief Credit Officier.

Asian Development Bank approved $350 Million Loan for Chhattisgarh Road Improvement Project

  • Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved $350 million in loans to rehabilitate and upgrade two state highways.
  • There are around 23 major district roads totaling about 850 kilometers in Chhattisgarh.
  • The total cost of this project is $521.69 million and the state government of Chhattisgarh to provide $171.69 million.

Ambati Rayudu retires from all forms of cricket

  • Indian middle-order batsman Ambati Rayudu retired from all forms of cricket.
  • The 33-year-old Andhra Pradesh batsman was in India’s official standbys list for the on-going World Cup but was omitted twice.
  • Rayudu played 55 ODIs for India, scoring 1694 runs at an average of 47.05. He, however, did not play any Test.

Odisha to host the 21st Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship 2019

  • Department of Sports and Youth Service of the Odisha government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) and Odissi Tennis Association (OSTTA).
  • They decided to host the 21st Commonwealth Championship for the year 2019. from July 17-22, 2019 at the Jawaharlal Indoor Stadium in Cuttack, Odisha.
