Longest electrified railway tunnel in India commissioned
- The South Central Railway (SCR) has commissioned the longest electrified tunnel between Cherlopalli and Rapuru stations.
- The 6.6 KM long tunnel is built at a total cost of ₹460 crore.
- The tunnel is part of the recently completed Obulavaripalli-Venkatachalam new railway line.
Centre decides to extend ESI Act to entire country by 2022
- Government has decided to extend the ESI Act to the entire country by 2022.
- Out of the total 722 districts, the ESI scheme has been extended to 541 districts.
- Under the ESIC 2.0 programme, ESI scheme was extended in newly implemented areas.

Bi-cycle sharing scheme, to be introduced in Puducherry
- Under Puducherry smart city development plan, a bicycle sharing scheme, is to be introduced in Puducherry in a couple of months.
- The registered users or customers can use bicycles to hop from one place to another within the boulevard area.
- For the scheme, 100 spots have been identified for cycle docking stations.
- This scheme is one among the 22 prioritised schemes of the Puducherry Smart City Project for which about 194 crore rupees would be spent.

Jaipur enters the UNESCO World Heritage Site list
- The walled city of Jaipur has entered into the UNESCO World Heritage Site list.
- Jaipur is well known for its iconic architectural legacy.
- It has become the second city of the country to enter into the UNESCO World Heritage Site after Ahmedabad.

India, Myanmar to exchange crucial information on drug trafficking
- 4th Director General level talks between Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) held in New Delhi.
- India and Myanmar have resolved to exchange crucial information relating to drug trafficking and precursors.
- Two-day bilateral meeting held between India and Myanmar to take coordinated and concerted actions against drug trafficking between the two countries.
- The Indian delegation was led by NCB Director General Abhay while the Myanmar delegation was headed by CCDAC Joint Secretary Police Brigadier General Win Naing.

India, Russia to hold Strategic Economic Dialogue tomorrow
- The second India-Russia Strategic Economic Dialogue will be held in New Delhi tomorrow
- The meeting will focus on six core areas of cooperation.
- These include the development of transport infrastructure and technologies, agriculture and agro-processing sector and small and medium business support.
- It will be held under the chairmanship of NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar and Deputy Minister of the Economic Development of Russia, Timur Maksimov.
- The first India-Russia Strategic Economic Dialogue was held in St. Petersburg in November last year.

Sri Lanka inaugurated its first model village built with Indian assistance at Ranidu Gama in Gampaha
- A model village built with the Indian assistance inaugurated in Sri Lanka for war-affected people and estate workers.
- India partnered with the Ministry of Housing and Construction and Cultural Affairs to build 100 model villages.
- India has undertaken more than 70 people-oriented development projects in various fields including health, education, housing, skill development, infrastructure and vocational training across Sri Lanka.
- It also includes the largest University Auditorium in Ruhuna University in Matara in Sri Lanka. Around 20 such projects are currently under progress.

- The global imports of sunflower oil is around 9.6 million tonnes.
- India is the largest importer of sunflower oil with imports of about 2.8 million tonnes.

RBI board finalised Utkarsh 2022 to improve regulation and supervision
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) board has finalized Utkarsh 2022 aimed to improve regulation and supervision, among other functions of the central bank.
- RBI’s Utkarsh 2022 will be in line with the global central banks’ plan to strengthen the regulatory and supervisory mechanism.
- It is a three-year roadmap for medium term objectives.

BSF launches ‘Operation Sudarshan’ along the Punjab and Jammu border
- The Border Security Force (BSF) has launched an exercise, code named ‘Sudarshan’, to fortify the ‘anti-infiltration grid’ along the Pakistan border in Punjab and Jammu.
- The operation was launched on July 1 and will cover the entire over the 1,000-km length of the India-Pakistan International Border.
- Jammu shares about 485-km of the border with Pakistan and about 553-km of the front is in Punjab.

- It was organized by World Karate Federation affiliated to the International Olympic Association.
