[toc]About Swachh Iconic Places Project
The Swachh Iconic Places (SIP) project was envisioned by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi under the Swachh Bharat Mission and is being coordinated by the Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation with the support of State governments and local administration.
Swachh Iconic Places is a collaborative project with three other central Ministries: Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Tourism.
This project also involves local administrations in the States and Public Sector and Private Companies as sponsoring partners of the places.
The main goal of the entire project is to improve the cleanliness at these places to a distinctly higher level and also fulfil the Swachh Bharat Mission.
The first phase of Swachh Iconic Places was launched in 2016, while the Phase II of Swachh Iconic Places was launched in November 2017.
