How Many Papers are there in the CAIIB Exam 2026? A Brief Answer: The CAIIB 2026 examination consists of four compulsory papers, namely, Advanced Bank Management, Bank Financial Management, Advanced Business and Financial Management, and Banking Regulations and Business Laws. A total of 5 elective papers are included in the CAIIB examination. They are: Rural Banking, Human Resources Management, Information Technology and Digital Banking, Risk Management, and Central Banking. Among those 5 papers, candidates have to choose one. • Each paper will contain 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions for 100 marks, including questions based on case studies/caselets. However, IIBF may vary the number of questions to be asked for a subject.

• The exam duration for each paper is 2 hours.

• There will be no negative marking for wrong answers.

• Each paper will be held on different dates.

• The medium of the exam is either Hindi or English, as decided at the time of registration of the application. In any case, a change of medium will not be allowed at a later stage.

What Happens If You Fail One Paper?

If you fail one paper in CAIIB 2026, it doesn't mean you have to start from scratch. The IIBF allows candidates to retain credits for the subjects they have already passed. You only need to reappear for the failed paper within the permitted attempts and time limit.

 

• Credit Retention: Marks of cleared subjects are preserved; no need to retake them.

• Attempt Limit: Maximum 5 attempts within 3 years (whichever is earlier).

• Re-exam Fee: You must pay the fee again for the remaining paper(s).

• Reset Rule: If not cleared within 3 years or 5 attempts, all credits lapse, and fresh registration is required.

• Aggregate Rule: If you score 45+ in a paper but miss the 50% overall aggregate, you can improve your average in the next attempt.
