Gaurav, Akarsh, Nisha and Anamika
are four students of different classroom coaching centres of Exampundit, a
leading classroom coaching centre for SBI PO aspirants. Each belongs to a
different state, ie UP, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, but not necessarily
in the same order. Exampundit arranged an All India Mock-Test series for all
the classroom coaching centres students of Exampundit in four cities Hyderabad,
Kolkata, New Delhi and Kota. The students Gaurav, Akarsh, Nisha and Anamika
appeared for the test series in different cities. When the results were
declared they got first to fourth position in All-India ranking. They were
students of Exampundit, ie Lucknow, Surat, Bhopal and Cuttack, but not
necessarily in the same order.
I. The one who appeared at the Hyderabad
test centre got the 4th position in All-India ranking. But he is not Akarsh.
The one who appeared at Kota for the test got the first position. The one who
belongs to Gujarat got the third position, while the one who studied at the
Lucknow centre got the second position in All-India ranking.
II. Gaurav and Akarsh studied
neither at the Lucknow centre not at Surat. They appeared for test neither at
Kolkata nor at New Delhi. They belong neither to Odisha nor to Gujarat.
III. The one who studied at the Bhopal
centre does not belong to Madhya Pradesh. The one who belongs to Gujarat is not
Anamika. The one who studied in Surat did not appear for the test at Kolkata
centre. The one who belongs to UP did not appear at Hyderabad centre.

Solutions –  Explanation (6-10): The machine rearranges one word and one
number in each step. As for words, the ones starting with a vowel are
rearranged first in reverse alphabetical order. When this is done, the ones
starting with a consonant are rearranged in alphabetical order. As for numbers,
the odd numbers one rearranged first in descending order and then the even
numbers in ascending order.
