Dear Raina,

Hope you are doing well with your
studies and health. I am also fine. As you are about to pursue a course in Mass
Communications, today I want to throw some light on the role of Media in
today’s world.

The face of media has undergone
various transformations since its inception. Unfortunately, most of the time it
was a negative phase. The power given to them was exploited in more ways than
one can imagine. Instead of being the most trustworthy source of information
for the population, it became an uncanny cause of most scandals that took
place. Although, times have changed and now most of the media houses have taken
a positive turn in their way of working but, the era of 90s was a disgraceful
period for media.

There are several cases that you
will come across during your course of study, that will leave you stunned on
the role of media. There were times when they could have changed the face of a
decision or fate of the country but decided to surrender themselves to the
several bribes that were offered to them.

Hope you will keep these things
in mind and become a respectful journalist in life. My best wishes are always
