Importance of Language Proficiency Test in Bank and Insurance Exams: Recently BJP MP Sadananada Gowda urged Finance Minister to include regional language also in IBPS clerk exams. The Changes had already happened in RRB exams also due to the intervention of an MP.Similar Situation might happen for IBPS clerk also. As the Member of Parliament has raised an issue it can lead to similar interpretation for IBPS clerk Notification also.Likewise, Recently LIC released the Notification for the recruitment of Assistants in which they mentioned Language proficiency is must before Final selection.
Importance of Language Proficiency Test in Bank and Insurance Exams
Message in LIC notification is:
“Candidates should have the Knowledge of the Official Language of the State for which he is submitting the application. Selected candidates are required to prove their Knowledge of the Official Language of the respective states, before joining”.
This means that the candidates can apply for only those divisions whose official state language they know.
What is Language Proficiency Test?
It is just a simple task for the Organization to ensure that you are well fluent in speaking, writing and reading the local language of the state you are going to work.
This is because you will have to deal with local people, will have to help and assist them.
What is the importance of Regional Language Test?
Last phase of the clerical cadre exam is the Language Proficiency Test (LPT). LPT is to access your Local language skills because once you get appointed as the assistant in bank and Insurance.
You are required to converse with the higher authorities during the verification process fluently and they will provide marks for your fluency.
They just need how fluent you are and not your grammar and perfect answers because ultimately as an assistant in a bank you have to converse with the local people who visit the branch.
So, it is necessary that you be fluent in the local language rather than being a master of that language.
What type of test is LPT?
- It is generally conducted as a written test.
- You can also be asked for to translate a passage in the regional language of the state.
- will be given a certain passage about a certain topic. You will be asked to answer the questions about the topic in the Regional Language Test.
- Some Poems and tricky questions related to them can be asked as well.
Some organization also specifies that a candidate have to actually study the local language at the time of their schooling. Hence each recruitment notification differs in that aspect. So the candidates who are going to appear must be aware of these and be ready to face the changes made in the exam.
