World Food India to be held in New Delhi from Nov 1-4

  • The World Food India event will be held during November 1-4 in New Delhi.
  • This event will position India as food processing destination of the World.
  • This will be the second edition of World Food India.
  • Tagline for the event will be “Forging Pertnerships for Growth”.
  • First event was held in 2017 with the participation of 61 countries and signing of MoUs worth $14 billion.
  • Indian food processing industry has grown tremendously, recording 11 per cent growth rate.

Assam govt to set up Skill University at Darrang district

  • Assam government will set up a Skill University at the cost of 850 crore rupees at Darrang district.
  • This will be perhaps the first Skill University of the Country with a capacity of 10 thousand seats.
  • International Yoga Day will be observed at 459 centres of the Skill Development Mission.
  • The admission test for the first batch of the North East Skill Centre will be held on 30th of this month.
  • 80 per cent seats will be reserved for Assam and rest 20 per cent for other North Eastern states.

Centre sets up committee headed by Kirit Parikh to review LPG marketing

  • Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas is now looking to review the existing structure of LPG marketing in India.
  • To review the existing marketing structure, the Centre has set up a five-member committee headed by economist Kirit Parikh.
  • The new committee, set up on May 30, will look into issues related to definition or quality standards of LPG being marketed.

India, Italy decide on regular info sharing to combat international terror

  • India and Italy have decided to join hands to counter radicalisation, terror financing and money laundering through regular exchange of information and sharing of best practices.
  • The 2nd meeting of the India-Italy Counter Terrorism Joint Working Group was held in New Delhi on June 13.
  • It was co-chaired by MahaveerSinghvi, Joint Secretary (Counter Terrorism), Ministry of External Affairs and Diego Brasioli, Principal Director for Security, Disarmament and non-Proliferation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy.
  • The next meeting of the JWG will be held in Italy.

Digital transactions set to rise four times by 2021: Reserve Bank of India

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) stated that the digital transactions till March 2019 witnessed tremendous growth and they will rise by four times from Rs 2,069 crore in December 2018 to Rs 8,707 crore in December 2021.
  • RBI Report stated that in 2018-19, total digital transactions in volume terms recorded a growth rate of 58.8%. In 2017-18, growth was 50.4%.
  • RBI expects volume of cheque-based payments to be less than 2% of the retail electronic transactions by 2021.
