  • The users give easy access to credit for their day-to-day business expenses.

Govt to increase coal production to one billion tone by 2022-23

  • Coal minister Prahlad Josh informed that government is planning to increase the total production of coal in the country to one billion tones by 2022-23.
  • All India raw coal production has increased its production from over 462 Metric tonnes in 2013-14 to around 730 metric tonnes in 2018-19.

India to be free of Tuberculosis by 2025

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India has fixed a deadline of 2025 for eradicating TB against the global deadline of 2030 and asked MPs to work for its removal.
  • He launched the TB Free India Campaign at ‘Delhi End TB Summit’.
  • Government is implementing a national strategic plan (NSP) to end TB by 2025 with funding of over Rs12, 000 crore for the next three years.

  • Union Panchayat Raj Minister Narendra Singha Tomar informed Lok Sabha that over one lakh 28 thousand Gram Panchayats linked with optical fibre under Bharat Net programme.

Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani flags off CRPF cycle rally

  • Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today flagged off the Central Reserve Police Force cycle rally.
  • Five women officers along with 20  other cyclists will travel a distance of 982 kilometres on cycle from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad to India Gate, New Delhi.
  • The cycle rally is being flagged off from the birth place and work place of Mahatma Gandhi.

MP: 1st international flight from Indore leaves for Dubai

  • In Madhya Pradesh, the first international flight from Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar International Airport of Indore left for Dubai today with 153 passengers.
  • The commander of this maiden international flight was Sunish Kumar Bhargava.
  • Air India is operating 162-seater A-320 Neo aircraft on this route.

India and Italy Set Up Fast Track Mechanism To Facilitate Investors And Companies

  • India and Italy have decided to set up a fast-track system for companies and investors of both the countries.
  • The key objective of the system is to identify and solve problems faced by Italian companies and investors with their operations in India.
  • It will provide a platform for discussing general suggestions from the point of view of Italian companies and investors with regard to ease of doing business in India.
  • The fast-track system will be reviewed twice a year at the level of secretary, DPIIT and Italian Ambassador in India.

India-Uzbekistan meet on counter-terrorism in New Delhi

  • The 8th meeting of India-Uzbekistan Joint Working Group on Counter-Terrorism was held in New Delhi.
  • The meeting was co-chaired by Mahaveer Singhvi, Joint Secretary (Counter Terrorism), Ministry of External Affairs and Ambassador Farhod Azriev of Uzbekistan.
  • They exchanged views on current counter-terrorism challenges.
  • They decided to expand counter terror partnership and strengthen information sharing and capacity building mechanism.
  • The Joint Working Group reviewed threats posed by terrorist groups worldwide and in their respective regions including cross border terrorism.
  • The next meeting of the Joint Working Group will be held in Uzbekistan.

  • The Department of Telecom (DoT) and the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a Broadband Readiness Index (BRI) for Indian States and Union Territories (UT).
  • The first estimate will be made in 2019 and subsequently every year until 2022.
  • This index will appraise the condition of the underlying digital infrastructure and related factors at the State/UT level.
