  • IDBI Bank will resume all the facilities of housing loans, auto loans etc.

ECL Finance and Central Bank of India entered into an agreement to co-lend to MSME

  • ECL Finance Ltd, a subsidiary of Edelweiss Financial Services, and Central Bank of India has signed an agreement for priority sector lending to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) customers.
  • The partnership aims to facilitate speedy disbursal of credit across a bouquet of products, including machinery and business loans.
  • Many MSMEs face challenges of high interest rates or are excluded from access to banking services, given geographical inaccessibility.

ICMR-NIN conducting programmes on occasion of National Nutrition Week

  • The Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR)-National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) is going to implement the effectiveness of diet and lifestyle intervention with respect to lifestyle diseases like Hypertension and diabetes.
  • This will be done through information, education and communication through Anganwadi Workers as centre of knowledge dissemination with respect to these diseases.
  • On the occasion of the National Nutrition Week, Dr R Hemalatha said the study will help to reduce the increase of non communicable diseases.

KVIC Launches Terracotta Grinder at Varanasi to Re-use wasted pottery

  • Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) launched the first-ever Terracotta Grinder at Sewapuri in Varanasi.
  • This machine will grind the wasted and broken pottery items for re-using in pottery-making.
  • This Terracotta grinder will make grinding of wasted pottery items faster than the traditional mortar and pestle.
  • It will lessen the cost of production and will also help in solving the problem of shortage of clays.
  • They distributed 200 Electric Pottery Wheels and other pottery machines among the villagers. This will not only create 900 new jobs.

PM Modi inaugurates Garvi Gujarat Bhavan in New Delhi

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday inaugurated the Garvi Gujarat Bhavan in New Delhi. The new building situated at Akbar Road in the national capital has been built at a cost of around 131 crore rupees by the Gujarat Government.
  • The Bhavan is equipped with traditional and modern artefacts and technologies and will serve as a home for Gujaratis in the national capital.
  • It will represent the culture, craft and cuisine of Gujarat.

Western Odisha districts celebrating Agrarian festival ‘Nuakhai’

  • The much-awaited day, Nuakahi, for the people of western Odisha districts came today with much pomp and gaiety.
  • People of Odisha celebrated this festival today.
  • People offer the newly harvested crop called Nabanha to their respective presiding deities at a stipulated moment this morning.
  • While Goddess Samaleswari is being worshipped in Sambalpur, Pateneswari in Bolangiri, Sureshwari in Sonepur, Sekharbasini in Sundargarh and Manikeswari in Kalahandi are offered the new crop.
  • After offering the Nabanha, people relish different types of delicacies prepared from the newly harvested crop.

Haryana govt announces about Rs 5,000 cr interest, penalty waiver on crop loans

  • Haryana Government has announced a 4,750 crore rupees waiver on interest and penalty on crop loans.
  • This will benefit around 10 lakh farmers of the state.
  • The farmers who have borrowed from Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS), District Cooperative Central Banks, Land Mortgage Bank and Haryana Land Reforms and Development Bank will benefit from this decision
  • The farmers whose bank accounts were declared Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) by these banks and were unable to renew their loans will now be able to do so.

Police academy of international standards to be set up soon in Lucknow

  • Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that a police academy of international standards will be set up very soon in Lucknow.
  • OBJECTIVE: for training cops which will be the first of its kind of institute in the state.
  • He also inaugurated State Police Headquarters ‘Signature’ building in Lucknow.
  • Inaugurating the new building of police headquarters, Chief Minister said that he also wants to open a forensic university to ensure that State Police are not dependent on any other agency in case of any eventuality.

New Health Insurance Scheme AB-MGRSBY Launched In Rajasthan

  • Rajasthan state government launched a new health insurance scheme called Ayushman Bharat-Mahatma Gandhi Rajasthan Swasthya Bima Yojna (AB-MGRSBY) by integrating the Bhamashah Health Insurance Scheme(BSBY) of the State Government and Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna Scheme(AB-PMJAY) of the Central Government.
  • Around 1.1 crore families will be covered under this Health Scheme.
  • The sum insured now is Rs. 30000 for general diseases and Rs. 3 lakh per year for serious diseases.AB-PMJAY, which provides coverage of Rs5lakh per year.

India, Russia set to diversify & bolster bi-lateral ties

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a three- day visit to Vladivostok in Russia.
  • AIM: to take part in the 5th Eastern Economic Forum – EEF
  • Prime Minister will be the Chief Guest at the 5th Eastern Economic Forum.
  • The Prime Minister will also attend the 20th annual summit between Russia and India during the visit.
  • EEF summit presents enormous potential for developing close and mutually beneficial cooperation between Rusia and India in this region.
  • India and Russia will chalk out a five year road map 2020-24 to enhance cooperation in exploration and exploitation of oil and gas.
  • Both countries will explore ways to enhance cooperation while working in multilateral organisations like Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and BRICS.

  • Dr Harsh Vardhan addresses 72nd Session of the WHO Regional Committee for South-East Asia in New Delhi.
  • Prime Minister has fast-tracked many policy initiatives aimed at achieving all the core tenets of Universal Health Coverage to deliver affordable and inclusive healthcare for all.
  • Dr Harsh Vardhan was also unanimously elected as Chair of the 72nd Session of the WHO Regional Committee for South-East Asia.
  • This is the second time that India is hosting the Regional Committee meeting; the previous one was also hosted by India in New Delhi.
  • The first component of this is establishing 1,50,000 Health and Wellness Centres by the year 2022.

ECI hosts 4th General Assembly of Association of World Election Bodies

  • Election Commission of India (ECI) is hosting the 4th General Assembly of Association of World Election Bodies (AWEB) for the term 2019-21 at Bengaluru on 3rd September 2019.
  • An International Conference on Initiatives and Challenges of Social Media and Information Technology in Elections will also be held during the AWEB meeting.

Mithali Raj announces retirement from T20Is

  • Indian women’s cricket great and ODI captain Mithali Raj announced her retirement from T20 Internationals.
  • She wants to focus on her ODI career, keeping in mind the 2021 World Cup in New Zealand.
  • Mithali ended her T20 career with 2,364 runs from 89 matches at an average of 37.5 and the highest score of 97 not out. She made her T20 International debut in 1999 and played her last match in March against England in Guwahati.
  • Mithali is also the first Indian woman to reach the landmark of 2000 T20 runs.

8 US made Apache attack helicopters inducted into IAF to enhance combat capabilities

  • Eight United States-made Apache AH-64E attack helicopters were inducted into the Indian Air Force, at the Pathankot Air Force station.
  • The addition of the Apache fleet will bring in lethal firepower with great accuracy and significantly enhance the IAF’s combat capabilities.
  • The Indian Air Force has upgraded its inventory to the latest generation of attack helicopters.
  • The AH-64E Apache is one of the world’s most advanced multi-role combat helicopters.
  • The IAF had signed a multi-billion dollar contract with the US Government and Boeing Ltd in September 2015 for purchase of 22 Apache helicopters.

IAF Chief BS Dhanoa flies MiG-21 sortie with Wg Cdr Abhinandan

  • Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa and Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman flew together in a two-seater version of the Russian-origin legacy jet.
  • Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who piloted a MiG-21 Bison during the airstrike at a terror camp in Pakistan’s Balakot in February.
  • Air Chief Dhanoa said, it was an honour for him to fly with Abhinandan. He said that Abhinandan has got his flying category back.

Defence Ministry to conduct JNAQC in Visakhapatnam

  • Naval Quality Assurance Establishments is to host the Joint Naval Annual Quality Conclave (JNAQC) in Visakhapatnam on 5 September.
  • It will be hosted under the charge of Director General Quality Assurance (DGQA), Ministry of Defence.
  • The conclave will focus on Quality Challenges of Emerging Technologies which will provide insights on Management of Emerging Technologies in Indian Navy.

Indian army to train women soldiers for military police

  • The Indian Army is all set to start coaching 100 women soldiers from December 2019.
  • The aim is for the ultimate induction into the Corps of the military police.
  • the Indian military has 3.80% of its workforce as girls, the Air Force has 13.09% and the Navy has 6%.
  • Women will be inducted as Women military police to comprise 22% of the Corps of military police.
  • Their role would vary from searching crime cases to helping the military-like medical, legal, academic, signals and engineering wings of the military.
  • The military plans to coach 100 soldiers every year for a cadre, The strength of every cadre is expected to be 1,700 until reviewed.

Vikram lander of Chandrayaan-2 completes its first de-orbit manoeuvre

  • The Vikram lander of Chandrayaan-2 has undergone its first de-orbit manoeuvre successfully this morning.
  • The national space agency ISRO has said, the operation has been held 8.50 am.
  • The short duration manoeuvre lasted for just four seconds.
  • It helped the Lander to arrive at a 104 by 128-kilometer orbit around the moon.
  • The Lander Vikram was separated yesterday successfully from the Orbiter of Chandrayaan-2. During the separation, the Lander also acquired almost the same orbit of the mothercraft, necessitating the de-orbit missions.
