India’s biggest brands HDFC Bank retains top rank for sixth time in a row
- HDFC Bank topped the WPP-Kantar BrandZ Top 75 Most Valuable Indian Brands ranking for the sixth time in a row.
- BFSI brands have dominated the top 10 ranking list this year.
- According to the report, banking brands made up the largest share of the BrandZ Top 75 and owned 23% of the total brand value of $53.3 billion.
- Life Insurance Corporation of India and State Bank of India retained their positions in the ranking at No. 2 and No. 5, respectively.
- Kotak Mahindra Bank and ICICI Bank and got 5, 6th positions recently.

- The President of India Ramnath Kovind unveiled the first Indigenous High-Temperature Fuel Cell System.
- This system is developed by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in partnership with Indian industries under India’s flagship program named “New Millennium Indian Technology Leadership Initiative (NMITLI)” on the occasion of CSIR Foundation Day in New Delhi.
National Launch of 10 Year Rural Sanitation Strategy 2019 to 2029
- Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Jal Shakti, GoI launched the 10 Year Rural Sanitation Strategy (2019-2029).
- To focus sustaining the sanitation behavior change that has been achieved under the Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen (SBM-G), ensuring that no one is left behind, and increasing access to solid and liquid waste management.

Smt. Renuka Singh to inaugurate Aadi Mahotsav in Noida
- Shri Renuka Singh, Minister of State for Tribal Affairs will inaugurate National Tribal Festival Aadi Mahotsav organised by Ministry of Tribal Affairs at India Expo Centre, Sector-62, Noida (UP) in the presence of Shri Deepal Khandekar, Secretary, Tribal Affairs and Shri R.C. Meena, Chairman, TRIFED.
- The scheme of the festival is: A celebration of the spirit of Tribal Culture, Craft, Cuisine and Commerce.
- The festival will feature exhibition-cum-sale of tribal handicrafts, art, paintings fabric, jewellery and much more through 70 stalls.
- The 200 tribal artisans and artist from different states creating a Mini-India will be participating in the festival.

Union Agriculture Minister inaugurates Rural Investors and Start-up Conclave 2019
- Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated Rural Investors and Start-up Conclave (RISC) 2019.

PNB MetLife India Insurance Co. Ltd. ties-up with Religare Health Insurance
- PNB MetLife India Insurance Co. Ltd. has tied-up with Religare Health Insurance to offer a product which covers health, death and illness.
- The tie-up will offer additional earning opportunity for the life insurer’s distribution channel partners.
- PNB MetLife is targeting about 18-20% growth in 2019 (FY –fiscal year 20) & increase the number of branches to 200 from 107 within 2 years time.
- It has the largest life insurance market Maharashtra, New Delhi and Karnataka & Tamil Nadu.

India and Thailand sign trade agreements for Rs 2,400 crore
- Thailand and India have signed agreements for Rs 2,400 crores
- Aim: To boost trade ties between the two countries
- The pacts were across segments including rubber, construction material, food and beverages, logistics.
- The breakup of the agreements, Laksana Visit on his first visit to India said the agreements signed in Mumbai total 4.45 billion Thai baht (about Rs 900 crore) while in Chennai, it was 7.623 billion Thai baht (about Rs 1,500 crore).
- The total trade generated by this trip is 12.075 billion Thai baht.
- The main objective of the visit was to strengthen strategic partnership with India, expand new business opportunities.

- He was also deputed as Defence Attache at the Embassy of India, Bangkok, Thailand from 2006 to 2009.
- Air Marshal B Suresh has been appointed as Western Air Commander of the Air Force, in New Delhi.
- Suresh will succeed Kargil war hero Air Marshal Raghunath Nambiar.

- The Indian Air Force (IAF) appointed Air Marshal B Suresh as Western Air Commander of the Force in New Delhi.
- He will succeed Kargil war hero Air Marshal Raghunath Nambiar on October 31.
- Suresh (PVSM, AVSM, VM, ADC) was the Air Officer Commanding in Chief (AOC-in-C) of the Indian Air Force’s Southern Air Command.
- He assumed this charge from RKS Bhadauria on August 1, 2018.
- Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria appointed as its new chief.

- CM Kamal Nath laid the foundation stone of the Bhopal Metro Rail Project to be built at a cost of about Rs 6,941.4 crore rupees.

Indian Navy inaugurates its largest dry dock
- Indian Navy its largest dry dock. It was inaugurated on September 28, 2019.
- India’s only aircraft carrier, INS Vikramaditya, weighing 44,500 tons and the first indigenous carrier Vikrant
- In a dry dock, water is drained out after a ship is brought in to enable repair and inspection.
- This dry dock has been under construction for nine years. Five lakh tonnes of concrete has gone into making it.

- Infosys is the only corporate from India to earn the recognition for its efforts to combat climate change.
- The announcement of the winners was made after the UN Climate Summit in New York convened by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
- The award will be presented to Infosys at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP25) in Santiago, Chile (December 2019).
- Recently, Infosys has been ranked 3rd in the list of world’s most prestigious companies for 2019 by the famous American magazine Forbes.

- Boman Rashid Kohinoor, senior partner at the iconic Britannia & Co restaurant (Mumbai) passed away.
- Boman Kohinoor’s father Rashid Kohinoor, a Zoroastrian immigrant from Iran started this restaurant on the south Mumbai, in the year 1923.
