RBI sets WMA Limit for Govt at Rs 1,25,000 crore for the second half of FY21
- The Reserve Bank of India has set the limits for Ways and Means Advances (WMA) for the second half of the financial year 2020-21 (October 2020 to March 2021) for Central Government at Rs. 1,25,000 crore.
- The Reserve Bank will trigger fresh floatation of market loans when the Government of India utilizes 75% of the WMA limit.

NABARD embarking on Sanitation Literacy Campaign in Karnataka
- The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, NABARD is embarking on a Sanitation Literacy Campaign in Karnataka to create awareness on good hygiene and sanitation practices among rural masses.
- The campaign will commence on Gandhi Jayanti on October 2nd and continue until January 26th next year.

IDBI Bank becomes first bank to enable document embedding feature on Structured Financial Messaging System (SFMS)
- IDBI Bank has become the first bank in India to have implemented the new feature of document embedding facility with ‘Letter of Credit’ (LC) or ‘Bank Guarantee’ (BG) messages over the Structured Financial Messaging System (SFMS) platform of IFTAS which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Reserve Bank of India.
- The process would be conducted via a middleware application “i@Connect-SFMS (CSFMS) developed by IDBI Intech.
- This new feature of document embedding provides banks with the functionality of transmitting a PDF document of up to 1 MB along with the LC or BG messages.

- Reliance Industries Limited and Reliance Retail Ventures Limited (RRVL) announced that General Atlantic, a leading global growth equity investor, will invest Rs 3,675 crores into RRVL, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries.
- The investment by General Atlantic values RRVL at a pre-money equity value of Rs 4.285 lakh crores and with this its investment will translate into a 0.84 percent equity stake in RRVL on a fully diluted basis.

Rs 15,000 Cr Loan Sanctioned for Projects: Urban Affairs Ministry.
- Planning Board has sanctioned over Rs 15,000 crore loan for projects worth Rs 31,000 crore, a top official of the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry said
- 265 projects worth over Rs 18,500 crore are complete and the rest are under construction.
- The Ministry also launched a portal – Project-Management Information System (P-MIS) of the National Capital Regional Planning Board and said this a major step in using digital technology to improve transparency and accountability in monitoring progress of projects and administering loan.
South Eastern Railway launches ‘Operation My Saheli’
- The South Eastern Railways (SER) has launched the project, “Operation my Saheli” to enhance the security of women passengers in the train throughout the entire journey from the originating point to their destinations.
- The pilot version of the project “Operation my Saheli” has been introduced in 3 trains: Howrah-Yesvantpur Duronto Special, Howrah- Ahmedabad Special and Howrah-Mumbai Special.
- ” Operation my Saheli” is executed under the Framework of “Nirbhaya Fund” and no additional expenditure is provided by the Head of Railways.

- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the YSR Jala Kala Scheme under which free borewells will be drilled for the needy farmers in the state.
- The government said that about three lakh farmers will be profited from the scheme and will cover five lakh acres of land under cultivation with an estimated cost of Rs 2,340 crore in four years.
- The eligible farmers can apply either online or through the village secretariats.
- The applications will be approved after hydrogeological and geophysical surveys.

Gujarat govt announces 25 % cut in school fees
- Gujarat Government has announced 25 percent cut in school fees for the current academic year.
- This decision is termed as a big relief for the parents in view of the Coronavirus pandemic.
- The decision was taken after the directions from the Gujarat High Court and consultations with representatives of school managements and parents association.
- 25 percent cut in tution fees will be effective to all school boards including CBSE.
- There will be a 100 per cent fee waiver on all other activities including transportation, sports, library and computer.
- Those who have already paid full payment of fees will be offered adjustment by schools.
- Schools have been asked not to relieve any teacher from the job due to this relief.

- These guidelines will also provide the details about infection control measures.

Second Sero Survey Report Released by ICMR
- The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), which is the apex body in India for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research, released the Second Sero Survey Report.
- According to report, COVID19 risk in urban slums was twice than that in non-slum urban areas and four times the risk in rural areas.
Highlights:
- One in 15 individuals aged 10 years and above were estimated to be exposed to SARS-CoV2 by August
- 6% of over 29 thousand people, aged 10 and above, surveyed from 17th August to 22nd September.
- As per the report, containment and behavioral change at the population level have effectively checked the potential spread of SARS-CoV2.
- The Report states that 7.1% of the adult population, aged 18 and above, also showed evidence of past exposure to the virus.

- The Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Kiren Rijiju launched the new logo of Sports Authority of India’s (SAI) on 30 September 2020 at Delhi’s Major Dhyan Chand Stadium.
- The new logo of SAI features a flying figure which indicates the freedom an athlete to leapfrog his/her career in SAI.
- The figure features Indian Tricolour and blue colour of chakra.
- The logo signifies SAI’s journey of metamorphosis from identifying and nurturing grassroot level sporting talent to creating sporting excellence in the country.

Nagaland launches livelihood generation portal for returned migrant workers
- The Nagaland government launched a programme to provide skill development training to migrant workers who have returned to the state from other parts of the country due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
- The state government, with support from the North East Council, will initially train around 100 such returnees under the” Livelihood Generation Programme for Returned Migrant Workers”.

‘I Am Woman’ Singer Helen Reddy passes away
- Singer Helen Reddy, whose 1972 song ‘I Am Woman’ became a global feminist anthem, died in Los Angeles aged 78.
- Helen Reddy’s 1971 version of “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” from the musical “Jesus Christ Superstar” launched a decade-long string of Top 40 hits, three of which reached No. 1.
- In 1973, she won the best female vocal pop performance Grammy Award for “I Am Woman,” quickly thanking her then-husband and others in her acceptance speech.
Kuwait’s emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad-al Sabah passes away at age 91
- The ruler of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad-al Sabah passed away on September 29, 2020.
- Sheikh Sabah became Kuwait’s Foreign Minister in 1963- 2 years after Britain recognized Kuwait’s independence.
