- iStartup 2.0 is a startup bank account (in form of current account) that can be opened within 10 years of date of incorporation of the business. There are three variants of this current account.

- Infosys on Thursday said it plans to hire 500 additional tech workers in Rhode Island, US by 2023.
- New employees will work on a variety of tech-focused roles, and its recently launched ‘Reskill and Restart’ program will be among the channels used to recruit and train employees.

- The programme will support research-based innovations by providing funding support to MSMEs and startups up to Rs 50 lakh.

Gadkari approves proposal to construct Munger-Bhagalpur-Tirpety-Kahalgaon concrete road on NH80 in Bihar
- Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has approved a proposal to construct the 120 kilometre Munger-Bhagalpur-Tirpety-Kahalgaon concrete road on national highway 80 in Bihar.
- This will be a 2-lane road with paved shoulders, which will also be 4-lane wide at certain stretches.
- Mr Gadkari has directed officials to begin work on this road within next three months.
- He also ordered release of 20 crore rupees for immediate repair works on this section.

PM Modi launches projects worth over ₹20,000 cr in Bihar
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched fisheries and animal husbandry projects worth more than ₹20,000 crore in Bihar, which goes to polls later this year.
- The projects launched virtually by Modi, who gave the slogan Jai Kisan (farmers), Jai Vigyan (science), Jai Anusandhan (research), included the ₹20,050 crore scheme Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and the e-Gopala mobile app.
- The PMMSY scheme, which is part of the ₹20 trillion stimulus package announced earlier this year, aims to improve availability of certified quality fish seed and feed, create critical infrastructure, including modernization and strengthening of value chains to create job opportunities for nearly 1.5 million.

- Pragati scheme- This scheme provides scholarships to the girls of UT Jammu and Kashmir who belong to families having an annual income of less than Rs 8 lakh and who shall be admitted in the AlCTE approved institutions for the session 2020-21.
- Saksham scheme– This scheme provides scholarships to all specially-abled students with 40% disability and belonging to families with annual income less than Rs 8 lakh. They should be pursuing technical education at degree or diploma level.

- The project will help Bangladesh to mobilise private investment, develop infrastructure projects and create jobs which will help accelerate the economic recovery process in the aftermath of the Corona pandemic.
- the project will generate 3000 jobs in PPP projects supported by the Bangladesh Infrastructure Finance Fund Limited (BIFFL) by 2024.

- India (Score- 6.56/10) has been ranked 105th in the Global Economic Freedom Index 2020 released by the Fraser Institute, Canada.
- HongKong (Score- 8.94/10) has topped the ranking followed by Singapore at the second spot.
- India has fallen 26 spots from 79th spot in last year’s ranking.
- Venezuela has been ranked last among 162 countries.
- The rankings are prepared based on the data of the year 2018.
- The index measures the degree to which the policies and institutions of countries are supportive of economic freedom.

- They have been inducted in the Indian Air Force’s 17 Squadron ‘Golden Arrows’ based in Ambala.
- The first five Rafale aircraft had arrived from France on 27 July 2020.
- The multi-role Rafale jets have been built by French aerospace major Dassault Aviation.
- India had signed an inter-governmental agreement with France in 2016 to procure 36 of the aircraft at a cost of Rs 59,000 crore
- The delivery of all 36 aircraft is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2021.
- Out of 36 Rafale jets, 30 will be fighter jets and six will be trainers.

- Ministry of Shipping has launched the SAROD-Ports’ (Society for Affordable Redressal of Disputes – Ports) which is a Dispute Redressal Mechanism for all kind of disputes of the maritime sector.
- The launch was done virtually by Union Minister of State for Shipping (I/C) Shri Mansukh Mandaviya.
It has two objectives:
- Affordable and timely resolution of disputes in a fair manner
- Enrichment of Dispute Resolution Mechanism with the panel of technical experts as arbitrators.
- SAROD-Ports will save a huge amount of legal expenditure and time by resolving the maritime disputes in a fair and just manner.
India to Have 220 GW Renewable Energy Capacity by 2022, Says PM Modi
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi exuded confidence that India will increase its existing clean energy capacity of 134 GW to 220 GW by 2022 and stressed on reducing tariffs further through technological advancements.
- Modi also mentioned the ‘One World, One Sun, One Grid’ project which is aimed at renewable energy supplies across nations
- It was announced by New and Renewable Energy Minister RK Singh at the Virtual World Solar Technology Summit organised by the International Solar Alliance.

Police Officer Poonam Khatri crowned Wushu World Champion
- Indian Police Officer, Poonam Khatri has claimed World Championship status after her silver medal at the Wushu World Championship last year has been upgraded to a Gold medal. Poonam hails from Haryana’s Jhajjar district.
- Poonam had lost the final to Iranian opponent Mariyam in the Women’s 75 kg category but after Mariyam recently failed the dope test, the gold medal has been awarded to Poonam Khatri.
- The information was clarified by Secretary-General of the Indian Wushu Association, Suhel Ahmed.

- Hubballi Railway Station in Karnataka will now be known as ‘Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji Railway Station.
- Union government has approved long-pending demand of Hubballians of renaming the Hubballi railway station.
Apple develops special face masks for employees
- Apple Inc. has developed masks that the company is beginning to distribute to corporate and retail employees to limit the spread of Covid-19.
- Apple told staff that the Face Mask was developed by the Engineering and Industrial Design teams, the same groups that work on devices such as the iPhone and iPad.
- It is made up of three layers to filter incoming and outgoing particles.
- It can be washed and reused as many as five times, the company told employees.
- the mask looks unique with large coverings on the top and bottom for the wearer’s nose and chin.
