- The World Science Day for Peace and Development is celebrated each year on November 10 to highlight the important role that science play in society and the need to engage the wider public in debates on emerging scientific issues.
- World Science Day was proclaimed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2001 and celebrated for the first time in 2002.

Pakke Tiger Reserve in Arunachal Pradesh to provide insurance cover against COVID-19 for it’s ‘Green Soldiers’
- The Pakke Tiger Reserve (PTR) in Arunachal Pradesh has become the first reserve from the Northeastern region to provide insurance cover against COVID-19 for its ‘Green Soldiers’.
- Covid-19 front line workers of the park are referred to as the Green Soldiers.
- 57 frontline staffs of the Park have been insured for nine months against health issues due to coronavirus infection.
- The insurance amount has been paid by the ‘Wildlife Trust of India’ (WTI) with support from ‘Foundation Serge’.
- Each of the worker will get an insurance coverage is of Rs 1 lakh; but a few who would be retiring soon have been insured for Rs 50,000.
Hardeep S. Puri inaugurates 13th Urban Mobility India Conference 2020
- The 13th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference was organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on 09 November 2020.
- It was inaugurated by Shri Hardeep S. Puri, Minister of State (IC) Housing and Urban Affairs.
- The day-long Conference was held via Video Conference on the theme “Emerging Trends in Urban Mobility”.
- The conference focused on innovative measures taken at national and international level to address the challenges posed by Covid-19 pandemic to provide accessible and convenient transport to the people.
First Anniversary of Kartarpur Corridor celebrated
- The Pakistan Gurudwara body, PSGPC (Pakistan Sikh Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee) is to celebrate the first anniversary of the inauguration of Kartarpur Corridor.
- The Corridor connects Dera Baba Nanak in India with Gurudwara Darbar Sahib.
- The corridor is closed from Indian side due to COVID-19 pandemic.
- Every year, around 3000 people from India reach the site to commemorate the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak.
29 Projects approved to benefit Farmers
- Shri Narendra Singh Tomar chaired Inter-Ministerial Approval Committee meeting.
- The committee approved 29 projects leveraging investment of Rs 443 crores.
- Under the Scheme of Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition, Rs 189 crores were allocated. Rs 15 crores was allocated to the BFL scheme.
- BFL is creation of Backward and Forward Linkages.
FASTags made mandatory to all four wheelers from January 1, 2021
- The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has made FASTags mandatory for all four-wheelers from January 1, 2021.
- The ministry released an official notification regarding this on November 6 and also clarified that it will be applicable to old vehicles also.
- As per the notification, it is a major step towards online payment at toll centres.
- The Road Transport and Highways Ministry has made the FASTags mandatory for all four-wheelers and old vehicles- M and N class vehicles sold before December 1, 2017.

National Saffron Mission extended to North East
- Saffron Production under the National Saffron Mission that was so far confined to Kashmir is now to be implemented in the North East.
- The plants are to be transported from Kashmir to Sikkim.
- The Kashmir Saffron received GI Tag in May 2020.
Tezpur Litchi gets GI tag
- The Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has announced that Assam’s Tezpur Litchi has been given the geographical indication (GI) tag.
- The application for GI tagging was made on 28th August 2013 by North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation Ltd (NERAMAC).

Nagaland’s Hornbill Festival to be celebrated virtually
- Nagaland govt decides to celebrate Hornbill Festival virtually this year.

- 16 tribes come together to celebrate their traditions with dance performances. Tourists from across the globe attend the 10-day gala.

Sudan removed from State sponsors of Terrorism List
- Sudan was removed from the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism. India has welcomed its removal.
- Also, India welcomed the normalisation of Sudan’s relations with Israel.
- After UAE, Bahrain, Sudan became the third country to normalise its relations with Israel in the last two months.

India attends SCO Summit
- On November 10, 2020, India is to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit. India was represented by PM Modi at the summit.
- This is the 20th summit of the organization and third for India since it became a member in 2017.
- India was an observer at the SCO since 2005.
- The summit is to be chaired by the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
- The other countries to attend the summit are Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
- During the summit, the leaders are to adopt Moscow Declaration.
