Definition: reduce or decrease in speed or intensity.

Incapacitate

verb

Definition: prevent from functioning in a normal way.

Example: “he was incapacitated by a heart attack”

Deter

Definition: prevent the occurrence of.

Example: “strategists think not only about how to deter war, but about how war might occur”
