Question 1 of 10
1. Question
Harry and Madhu together can do a piece of work in 12 days which Madhu and Jyoti together can do in 16 days. After Harry has been working at it for 5 days and Madhu for 7 days, Jyoti takes up and finishes it alone in 13 days. In how many days could Madhu do the work by himself?
Correct
Harry and Madhu in 1 day= 1/12
Madhu and Jyoti in 1 day= 1/16
Harry’s 5 days + Madhu’s 7 days + Jyoti’s 13 days work= 1
Harry’s 5 days + Madhu’s 5 days+ Madhu’s 2 days+ Jyoti’s 2 days+ Jyoti’s 11 days work= 1
(Harry + Madhu)’s 5 days + (Madhu + Jyoti)’s 2 days + Jyoti’s 11 days work= 1
5/12 + 2/16 + Jyoti’s 11 day’s work= 1
Jyoti’s 11 day’s work= 1 – (5/12 + 2/16) = 11/24
Jyoti’s 1 day’s work= 11/ 24*11 = 1/24
Madhu’s 1 day’s work= 1/16 – 1/24 = 1/48
Incorrect

Question 2 of 10
2. Question
To do a certain work Ranu would take three times as long as Anu and Sonu together and Sonu twice as long as Ranu and Anu together. Anu, Ranu and Sonu together complete the work in 10 days. How long would Anu take?
Correct
3 times Ranu’s daily work= (Anu + Sonu)’s daily work
By adding Ranu’s daily work to both sides.
4 times Ranu’s daily work= (Anu + Ranu +Sonu)’s daily work= 1/10
Ranu’s daily work= 1/40
2 times Sonu’s daily work= (Anu + Ranu)’s daily work.
Adding Sonu’s daily work to both sides
3 times Sonu’s daily work= (Anu + Ranu + Sonu)’s daily work = 1/10
Sonu’s daily work= 1/30
Now, Anu’s daily work= 1/10 – ( 1/40 + 1/30) = 1/24
Incorrect

Question 3 of 10
3. Question
Piu can do a work in 6 days, Riya takes 8 days to complete it. Megha takes as long as Piu and Riya would take working together. How long will it take Riya and Megha to complete the work together?
Correct
Piu + Riya can do the work in = 6 * 8/ 6+ 8 = 24/7 days
Megha takes 24/7 days to complete the work.
Riya and Megha takes=( 24/7 * 8 )/ ( 24/7 + 8)
= 24 * 8 / 24 + 56
= 12/5 days
Incorrect
Piu + Riya can do the work in = 6 * 8/ 6+ 8 = 24/7 days
Megha takes 24/7 days to complete the work.
Riya and Megha takes=( 24/7 * 8 )/ ( 24/7 + 8)
= 24 * 8 / 24 + 56
= 12/5 days

Question 4 of 10

Question 6 of 10
6. Question
One day, 3 women and 4 boys can do a work in 96 hrs, 2 men and 8 boys can do it in 80 hrs and 2 men and 3 women can do it in 120 hrs. In how many hrs can it be done by 5 men and 12 boys?
Correct
1m + 3w + 4b in 96 hrs ————– (1)
2m+ 8b in 80 hrs ————— (2)
1m + 4b in 160 hrs ———— (3)
2m + 3w in 120 hrs —————– (4)
From (1) and (3) we have,
3w do the work in 160 * 96/(16096) = 240 hrs ————— (5)
From (4) and (5) we have,
2m do the work in 240*120/(240120) = 240 hrs ———— (6)
5m do the work in 240 * 2/5 = 96 hrs ———— (7)
From (2) and (6) we have,
8b do the work in 80*240/(24080) = 120 hrs
12b do the work in 120 * 8/12 = 80 hrs ———– (8)
Now from (7) and (8) we have,
5m + 12b do the work in 96*80 /(96+80) = 480/11 hrs
Incorrect
1m + 3w + 4b in 96 hrs ————– (1)
2m+ 8b in 80 hrs ————— (2)

8b do the work in 80*240/(24080) = 120 hrs
12b do the work in 120 * 8/12 = 80 hrs ———– (8)
Now from (7) and (8) we have,
5m + 12b do the work in 96*80 /(96+80) = 480/11 hrs

Question 7 of 10
7. Question
If 1 man or 2 women or 3 boys can do a piece of work in 44 days, and then the same piece of work will be done by 1 man, 1 woman and 1 boy in how many days?
Correct
1 man = 2 women = 3 boys
1 man + 1 women + 1 boy= 3 boys + 3/2 boys + 1 boy= 11/2 boys
Now, 3 boys do the work in 44 days
11/2 boys do the work in 44 * 3/ 11 * 2 = 24 days
Incorrect
1 man = 2 women = 3 boys
1 man + 1 women + 1 boy= 3 boys + 3/2 boys + 1 boy= 11/2 boys
