number.
1. 190 166 145 128
112 100 91
(a) 100 (b) 91 (c) 128 (d) 112 (e) 145
2. 20480 5120 1280
320 100 20 5
(a) 5120 (b) 320 (c) 1280 (d) 100 (e) 5
3. 60 67 76 87 99 115
(a) 67 (b) 87 (c) 76 (d) 115 (e) 99
4. 7 8 18 57 228 1165
6996
(a) 228 (b) 57 (c) 1165 (d) 8 (e) 18
5. 1 1 2 6 24 96 720
(a) 720 (b) 96 (c) 24 (d) 6 (e) 2
Direction (6-10):
What value should come in the place of question mark (?) in the following
number
series:
6. 6, 11, 32, 111,
464, ?
(a) 2165 (b) 2205 (c) 2285 (d) 2345 (e) 2375
7. 3, 14, 39, 84,
155, ?
(a) 236 (b) 258 (c) 264 (d) 272 (e) 278
8. 8, 12, 24, 60,
180, ?
(a) 480 (b) 510 (c) 630 (d) 720 (e) 780
9. 168, 171, 178,
191, 212, ?
(a) 243 (b) 247 (c) 251 (d) 254 (e) 257
10. 4, 7, 10, 11, 22,
19, 46, ?
(a) 33 (b) 35 (c) 37 (d) 39 (e) 41
Solutions:
1. Subtracting 24, 21, 18, 15, 12.
2. Dividing previous number by 4.
3. Go on adding 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, …
4. The series is: 7 × 1 + 1 = 8
8 × 2 + 2 = 18
18 × 3 + 3= 57
57 × 4 + 4 = 232 not 228
2328 × 5 + 5 = 1165
1165 × 6 + 6 = 6996
So, 228 is wrong.
5. The series is: 1 × 1 = 1
1 × 2 = 2
2 × 3 = 6
6 × 4 = 24
24 × 5 = 120 not 96
120 × 6= 720
So, 96 is wrong.
6. Series is ×1+5, × 2 + 10, ×3 + 15, × 4 + 20
7. Series is 1 + 12 + 13 , 2 + 22 +23 , 3 + 32 + 33
8. Series is × 0.5 + 8, ×1.0 + 12, ×1.5 + 24
9. Series is + 12 + 2, + 22 + 3, + 32 + 4……
10. Series 1 – 4, 4+6 = 10, 10 + 12 = 22, 22 + 24 = 26
Series 2 – 7, 7 + 4 = 11, 11 + 8= 19, 19 + 16 = 35
How to Solve These?
The combinations of Number Series can be in 100 or 1000s.
However, practice makes it perfect. Each time you practice, write down the
patterns in your notebook. By this not only you will get the idea of solving
them but also you will know the various patterns number series problems follow.
