Highlights of Independence Day 2019 India | PM Narendra Modi’s Speech:

  • In his sixth consecutive Independence Day speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from Red Fort.
  • PM Modi spoke about issues like Article 370, water conservation, population explosion and development in his speech.
  • Modi also announced roll out of ‘JalJivan’ mission to provide piped drinking water to all households and said his government will spend Rs 3.5 lakh crore for it.
  • On the economic front, PM Modi expressed confidence that India will become a $5 trillion economy in the next five years.
  • From 2014 to 2019, we became a $3 trillion economy. Before that, in the last 70 years, the country was a $2 trillion economy.
  • We added $1 trillion to the economy in just five years. Now we are looking forward to making the nation a $5 trillion economy,” said Narendra Modi in his speech.
  • He also stood up in support of industrialists, saying that wealth creators should not be eyed with suspicion and that they are country’s wealth and should be respected.
  • Now every Indian can say confidently ‘One Nation, One Constitution’,” said PM Modi on the new government successfully removing Article 370.
  • PM Modi says the government will focus on “Jal Jivaan Mission” in the coming days.
  • Both Central and the states government will work together for this mission. A total of ₹70 lakh crore has been allotted for this mission.
  • PM Modi talks about the increase in population of the country. The Prime Minister urges to the nation to understand the importance of birth control in the nation.
  • With regard to tourism, PM Modi said there’s a huge scope to improve India’s tourism sector. He urged citizens to visit Indian tourist spots to usher development within the country. We shoulddevelop 100 touristdestinationsacross the country, and northeast should become a major tourist hub.
  • The PM said the government aims to invest Rs 100 lakh crore to develop modern infrastructure. He hopes it will help double the country’s economy.
  • To boost exports, Modi said he aims to focus on making local products attractive and give rise to more export hubs.
  • A total of ₹100 lakh crore will be allotted for new infrastructure in the country. Be it making roads, railways, bridges or hospitals.

The PM ended the speech saying that he hopes to walk the path of progress and fulfil the dreams of BabasahebAmbedkar.
