English Quiz for Upcoming IBPS Bank Exams – Set 38 | New Pattern – Odd Sentence

Hello and welcome to exampundit. Here is a set of English Language Quiz for the upcoming IBPS Exams 2017.

In the following questions, a set of five sentences are
given. four of the sentences are related in some way, the remaining sentence is
not related to the rest. You have to pick the sentence which does not fit in
the relation and mark that as your answer:
1. A. Even in the first three months of 2017, the number of
cases and deaths were fairly high, at over 6,000 and 160, respectively.
B. so far this year, 12,500 people have been infected with
the influenza A (H1N1) virus, of which 600 have died.
c. Symptoms of H1N1 such as a running nose, throat
irritation, sudden fever, headache and joint and muscle pain suggest presence
of swine flu and are reasons to visit your doctor for tests.
d. According to official data, Maharashtra alone has
registered 284 deaths, which by itself is much more than the total mortality

2. A. With Modi’s demonetization move, all domestic black

destroyed.

widespread hardship for the poor, major job losses and over a hundred deaths.
C. One can understand that the demonetization would have a
pretty bad impact on SMEs, small traders, real estate, transport sector,
consumer durable goods industry. Not only these sectors but it would major
affect the rural areas business as over there, majority of the transactions are
made in cash.
D. The government’s move to suck out 86% value of money in
circulation by demonetizing Rs.500 and Rs.1,000 currency notes will adversely
impact India’s economic growth, at least in the short run, fear some
economists.
E.  There are limits
on how much cash can be changed for cash (Rs 4,000, soon to fall to 2,000) but
no limits upon what can be deposited in bank accounts. Of course, large
deposits are going to be subject to tax scrutiny, rather the point of the
exercise in fact.
3. A. Indian women’s team is set to play England in the
final of the mega-event and The RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group said they will start a
scholarship for sportswomen in India where a chosen five will be given Rs 5
lakh each.
B. The Australian Women’s Team have taken home the top
trophy for the past three consecutive years at the Women’s Twenty20 World Cup
and resulting from their efforts this the Southern Stars received a pay rise
making them the highest paid women’s sporting team in Australia.
C. After the Women’s Cricket Association merged with the
English Cricket Board, the Indian team toured England for the first time in
1999 and performed exceedingly well.
D. India won a One Day series for the first time when they
participated in the Centenary Celebration of New Zealand Cricket in 1995 and
this was a big morale booster for women’s cricket in the country.
E. The Indian government recognised the contributions of
women cricketers by awarding the prestigious Arjuna award to Shanta Rangaswamy,
Diana Edulji, Shubhangi Kulkarni and Sandhya Agarwal.

confirmed by the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite instrument on the
joint NASA/NOAA Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (Suomi-NPP)
satellite.
C. In the case of this rift, scientists were worried about
the possible loss of a pinning point that helped keep Larsen C stable.
D. The first available images of Larsen C are airborne
photographs from the 1960s and an image from a US satellite captured in 1963.
E. While the crack was growing, scientists had a hard time
predicting when the nascent iceberg would break away.
