  • World No Tobacco Day is observed every year on 31st May by all WHO global Partners.
  • Its main aim is to prevent people from Tobacco consumption and make them aware of its negative health effects.

ECONOMY

According to FICCI Survey, India’s GDP growth is 7.1% for FY20

  • Federation of India Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) forecasted the India’s Median GDP growth as 7.1% for FY20 and 7.2% for FY21.
  • It also estimated the minimum and maximum growth as 6.80% and 7.3% for 2019-20.
  • Inflation is expected to remain Moderate.
  • The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) based Inflation rate is expected to be 3.1% in 2019-20 whereas the Consumer Price Index (CPI) based Inflation rate is expected to be 4% for the same.

Admiral Karambir Singh Takes charge as Chief Charge of Naval Staff

  • Admiral Karambir Singh takes charge as the 24th Chief of Naval Staff (CNS).
  • He took over Admiral Sunil Lanba who retired today.
  • Prior to this he was the Flag Officer Commanding-in-chief of Eastern Naval Command.
