Operation Thirst launched by RPF

  • The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Indian Railways has launched an all-India drive called Operation thirst.
  • The operation aims to crub the sale of unauthorized packaged drinking water.
  • Under Operation thirst, more than 1,371 people were arrested and over 69,294 bottles were seized by RPF. The bottles were seized under section 144 and section 153 of Indian Railway Act.
  • The operation was launched in all major railway stations across the country to curb menace of unauthorized Packaged Drinking Water inside railway stations.

  • The Cabinet has decided to oficially shut down the Rajghat power plant.
  • A photovoltaic power station is also known as a solar park.

Chandigarh ranks best performing in the field of education

  • Chandigarh ranked best in the field of education and is followed by Kerala and Gujarat.
  • Chandigarh is best among all the states.

Uttar Pradesh Govt sets target of $1 trillion economy in the next three years

  • Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath exhorted traders and businessmen to contribute towards the state becoming a trillion dollar economy.
  • UP Vyapari Kalyan Board (Traders’ Welfare Board) in Lucknow while referring to Modi’s aim of India becoming a $5 trillion economy urged the business community to rise up to the occasion and contribute wholeheartedly towards a 1$ trillion economy by 2024.
  • UP Budget 2019-20 tabled in the state legislature is estimated to touch Rs 15.80 trillion (or nearly $230 billion at current exchange rate) by the end of this financial year.

Govt. imposed ban on Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) for its alleged anti-national activities

  • The Central governmet has banned the Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), a Pro-Khalistan group for its alleged anti-national activities.
  • It has been accused of dealing with activities directed against integrity and sovereignty of India.
  • It was banned under Section 3 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for its alleged anti-national activities. UAPA is an Indian law which is aimed at effective prevention of unlawful activities associations in India.

  • It Aims to channel investments from overseas Keralites for major infrastructure development in the state.

Film Divisions to launch documentary film club in Mumbai

  • Film Divisions launch KSHITIJ, a documentary film club in Mumbai.
  • An acclaimed documentary film “Secret Life of Frogs” by Ajay and Vijay Bedi screened as the inaugural film.
  • The Public screenings will begin at 5:30 PM on the second and fourth Friday of every month.
  • The screenings will be held at Films Division Complex.
  • The initiative being launched in association with Indian Documentary Producers Association
  • They will give movie lovers, an opportunity to watch acclaimed documentary films and also to interact with the film’s director.

Agri-Business Incubation Centre started in Chhattisgarh

  • An Agri-Business Incubation Centre has started in Chhattisgarh.
  • The centre is set up by the Union Agriculture Ministry in the Indira Gandhi Agriculture University of Raipur.
  • The Agri-Business Incubation Centre is set up under the National Agriculture Development Scheme- RAFTAAR.
  • The objective of the scheme is to make farming a remunerative economic activity by strengthening farmer’s efforts, risk mitigation and promoting agri-business entrepreneurship.
  • Under the scheme, guidance, technology and infrastructure will be provided to youth and entrepreneurs for start-ups in different areas of agriculture.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurates underpass near Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi

  • Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari inaugurated a three-lane underpass at Parade Road junction near Manekshaw Centre on NH 8 in New Delhi.
  • It will decongest traffic to IGI airport. With the opening of the underpass, movement of traffic from the airport to Dhaula Kuan has now become signal free.
  • The underpass was completed in a record time of 112 days.

Anshula Kant appointed MD and CFO of World Bank

  • Anshula Kant, managing director of the State Bank Of India, has been appointed as managing director and chief financial officer of World Bank.

India, Russia meets on space cooperation

  • India and Russia have held high-level talks in New Delhi to elevate bilateral co-operation to the next level in the field of space, including assistance in India’s maiden human space flight mission ‘Gaganyaan’.
  • National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Dmitry Rogozin, Director General of Russia’s space agency (ROSCOSMOS) led the two sides in the meeting.
  • Co-operation in futuristic technologies including new space systems, rocket engines, propellants and propulsion systems, spacecrafts and launch vehicle technology were also discussed.

BCC signs MoU with BRICS chamber to promote trade

  • The Bharat Chamber of Commerce, (BCC) and the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry, signed an MoU for promoting trade and investments between the BRICS countries and the eastern part of India.
  • The MoU was signed by BCC president Sitaram Sharma and BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry Director General B B L Madhukar.
