Flipkart Group launches Flipkart Wholesale to connect local manufacturers with retailers

Cabinet approved Mission Karmayogi

  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the launch of “Mission Karmayogi”, a National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building (NPCSCB).
  • Mission Karmayogi is aimed to prepare the Indian Civil Servant for the future by making them more constructive, imaginative, creative, innovative, proactive, progressive, professional, energetic, transparent, and technology-enabled.

Highlights:

  • The Capacity Building Commission was aimed to ensure a uniform approach in regulating and managing the capacity building ecosystem on a collaborative and co-sharing basis.
  • The commission will assist the PM Public Human Resources Council in approving the Annual Capacity Building Plans.
  • The commission will also coordinate and supervise the implementation of the Capacity Building Plans with the stakeholder Departments.
  • It will also exercise functional supervision over all Central Training Institutions dealing with civil services capacity building.
  • It will make recommendations on the standardization of training and capacity building, pedagogy, and methodology.
  • The Capacity Building Commission will set norms for common mid-career training programs across all civil services.
  • The Capacity Building Commission suggests policy interventions required in the areas of HR Management and Capacity Building to the Government.

iGOT-Karmayogi platform:

  • Mission Karmayogi will be delivered by setting up an (Integrated Government Online Training) iGOTKarmayogiPlatform.

  • The Union Cabinet has approved J&K official languages Bill 2020. According to the J&K official languages Bill 2020, Kashmiri, Dogri and Hindi along with Urdu and English, will be the official languages in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
  • The J&K official languages Bill 2020 will be introduced in Parliament in the upcoming Monsoon Session.

Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Ram Vilas Paswan has recently approved the integration of Ladakh and Lakshadweep with the scheme in a review meeting chaired by him.

Google partners with Bangladesh for flood forecasting

  • Google has partnered with Bangladesh Water Development Board to bring the flood warning services to the country.

  • Google is working to launch a new forecasting model to double the lead time so that people have an extra day or so to prepare in case of impending floods.

“Accidental Deaths and Suicides in India (ADSI) 2019” Reports

  • The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Ministry of Home Affairs released 53rd edition of a report titled “Accidental Deaths and Suicides in India (ADSI) 2019”.
  • According to the report the variation percentage of accidental deaths and suicide during 2019 over 2018 are around 2.3% and 3.4% respectively.
  • Delhi recorded the highest number of deaths due to dangerous driving and overall road accidents in 2019.In Chennai and Bengaluru, 1,258 and 768 persons died in road accidents respectively.
  • Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest road crash deaths with 15% of total deaths followed by Maharashtra with 9.4% and Madhya Pradesh with 7.7%.

SpiceJet launches portable ventilator SpiceOxy for patients with breathing issues

  • In the wake of coronavirus outbreak, the budget airlines SpiceJet introduced a portable ventilator for patients with mild-to-moderate breathing issues. Dubbed as ‘SpiceOxy’, the compact ventilator was designed by engineers of SpiceJet Technic, a subsidiary of SpiceJet.
  • This light weight device can be used at home, in an ambulance, on hilly terrain like army base camps, hospitals, and portable applications like wheelchairs and gurneys.
  • SpiceOxy is intended to provide non-invasive ventilator support to treat adult and paediatric patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) or respiratory insufficiency.

PUBG, 118 other Mobile Apps Banned by Indian Govt

  • The Ministry of Information and Technology on September 2, 2020, banned PUBG and 118 other widely popular mobile applications.
  • The latest ban by the government will be the third hit for the app industry after the government had taken similar steps in the past by banning Tik Tok and other famous Chinese websites.
  • The move can be seen in the light of ongoing tension between China and India in Eastern Ladakh.
