RBI imposes monetary penalty on DCB Bank for rule violations

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed monetary penalty on DCB Bank and Jio Payments Bank for various rule violations.
  • The central bank has imposed a penalty of Rs 22 lakh on DCB Bank for non-compliance with certain provisions on marketing/distribution of mutual fund/insurance etc.
  • The penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers vested in RBI under the provisions of Section 47A(1)(c) read with Section 46(4)(i) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.

NABARD sanctions over Rs8,504.30 lakh under RIDF scheme to Govt. of Goa during 2020-21

  • According to the Ministry of Rural Development, NABARD has sanctioned loans worth Rs8504.30 lakh under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) to the Government of Goa for various Social Infrastructure Projects in the State.
  • With this, NABARD achieved 100% of the target fixed for sanction to the State Government during 2020-21.

  • Ministry of Electronics & IT along with NIC had launched the e-invoice system for GST on 1st October 2020 for the businesses with aggregate turnover of more than Rs. 500 Crores in the financial year.
  • The system has completed one month and will be a milestone in India’s journey in enhancing the ease of doing business.

Govt provides support of Rs 670 crore to Regional Rural Banks to meet regulatory capital

  • The Central Government has provided support of Rs 670 crore to Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) operating in the country to help them meet the regulatory capital requirement of 9%.
  • At present 43 Regional Rural Banks are operating in the country. Around one-third of them are in loss and considering their importance in agriculture finance during these difficult times it was important to provide this support.

Ganga Utsav, 2020 begins

  • The Ganga Utsav was begun virtually.
  • The festival is to continue till November 4, 2020.
  • The Ganga Task Force as a part of celebration conducted afforestation drives with NCC cadets.
  • The Ganga Utsav is being organised by the National Mission for Clean Ganga celebrating the 12th anniversary of declaring River Ganges as National river.
  • The event was organised jointly by the Ministry of Jal Shakti.

GoI releases first instalment of Rs 2,200 crores to 15 states to improve Air Quality measures

  • The Government of India released Rs 2,200 crores to 15 states to improve Air Quality Measures.
  • The air quality improvement measures are to be executed in more than million plus cities.
  • The amount was released based on the recommendations of the Fifteenth Finance Commission.
  • The fund will help states undertake air quality measures and capacity building in local bodies. The amount was released to states such as Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.
  • Rs 396.5 crores has been released to Maharashtra, Rs 357 crores to UP, Rs 202.5 crores to Gujarat and Rs 209.5 crores to West Bengal.

Centre extends Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme till Nov 30

  • Union Government has extended the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) by one month till 30th of November or till an amount of Rs. three lakh crores are sanctioned under the scheme, whichever is earlier.
  • This has been done in view of the opening up of various sectors in the economy and the expected increase in demand during the ongoing festive season.

  • It is a Rs 10 crore project and covers a distance of 2.5 km with 3 bogies. It features a fully- equipped rail system, including a tunnel, station and a ticket office.

Rajasthan to be first state to legalise mask-wearing

  • Rajasthan government is planning to make a law on wearing face mask mandatory to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the state.
  • If the Bill gets the nod in the state assembly then Rajasthan will become the first state in the country to enact a law for making masks mandatory.
  • A new clause in Section 4 of the Rajasthan Epidemic Diseases Act, 2020 has been inserted, which proposes to prohibit the movement of people at public places without properly covering mouth and nose with a face mask or cover.

Chhattisgarh launches Fortified Rice Distribution Scheme

  • On the eve of Statehood Day celebrations, on November 1, 2020, the State Government of Chhattisgarh launched Fortified Rice Distribution Scheme.
  • The scheme was launched to reduce malnutrition and anaemia. Under the scheme, fortified rice is distributed through fair price shops.
  • The fortified rice is a mixture of Vitamin-B12, iron and folic acid. It helps to control malnutrition and anaemia.

Mansar Lake Development Project of J&K

  • The Union Minister of Development of the North Eastern Region Shri Jitendra Singh inaugurated the Mansar Lake Development Plan in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • The plan is to attract more than 20 lakh tourists every year. It is expected to generate employment of 1.15 crores of man-days.
  • In all, the project will generate Rs 800 crores of revenue.

Mission Sagar-II: INS AIRAVAT enters Port Sudan

  • The Indian Naval Ship Airavat entered Port Sudan as part of Mission Sagar Phase II.
  • Under Mission Sagar, India is currently providing assistance to its friendly foreign countries to help them overcome COVID-19 pandemic and natural calamities.
  • INS Airavat was carrying a consignment of 100 tonnes of food aid.
  • In phase II of Mission Sagar, INS Ship Airavat will deliver food aid to Sudan, Djibouti, South Sudan and Eritrea.
  • This phase is being implemented in close coordination with the Ministries of External Affairs and Ministry of Defence.

Indian Coast Guard Ship C-452 to be commissioned in Indian Navy

  • The ICGS C-452, designed and built by L&T is to be commissioned in the Indian Navy.
  • The ship was indigenously built in India under the Make in India initiative.
  • Earlier, Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh had commissioned the ICGS Sachet and two other interceptor boats namely C-451 and C-450 in Goa.

AAI hands over Lucknow airport to Adani group on lease for 50 years

  • The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has handed over the Lucknow airport to the Adani group on lease for a period of 50 years.
  • In February 2019, the Central Govt had privatised six major airports of the country namely Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, and Guwahati.
  • The right to run all these 6 airports has been won by Adani Group for 50 years.

  • The Indian and Canadian Archaeologists have found that dairy products were produced by Harappans even before 2500 BCE.
  • The year 2020 marks the 100 years of discovery of Indus Valley Civilization.
