- The Government of India released the maps of newly created union territories of Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh and the map of India depicting these union territories.
- According to the Home Ministry, the new Union Territory of Ladakh consists of Kargil and Leh – two districts.
- The rest of the former state of Jammu and Kashmir is in the new Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
- The maps prepared by Survey General of India depicting the new UTs of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, as created on October 31, 2019, along with the map of India.

Prime Minister Modi meets Japanese PM Shinz Abe
- Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, in the sidelines of India-ASEAN and East Asia Summit 2019 at Bangkok on 4 November 2019.
- This is the third meeting between the last about four months.
- The last meeting by the two Prime Ministers in Vladivostok in September 2019.

Ministry of Finance launched ICEDASH and ATITHI
- Union Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman, unveiled two new IT initiatives, ICEDASH and ATITHI.
- It aims to improve the monitoring and pace of Customs clearance of imported goods and to facilitate arriving international passengers by the electronic filing of Customs baggage and currency declarations.

- ICEDASH and ATITHI are expected to be key drivers for further improvement. It will also reduce interface and increase the transparency of Customs functioning. ATITHI would create a tech-savvy image of India Customs. It also aims to encourage tourism and business travel to India.
- With ICEDASH, Indian Customs aims to provide an effective tool that helps the businesses compare clearance times across ports and plan their logistics accordingly. The dashboard was developed by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC). ICEDASH can be accessed through the CBIC website.
IFFCO introduced India’s first Nanotechnology based fertilizers for on field trials
- The Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) introduced its Nano-technology based product range for on-field trials on 3 November 2019.
- It was launched at a function held in Kalol, Gujarat.
- The Nano-tech product includes Nano Nitrogen, Nano Zinc, Nano Copper.
- The nano products were researched and developed at the IFFCO Nano Biotechnology Research Centre (NBRC) at Kalol Unit.
- It has been identified that these nanostructured formulations effectively deliver nutrients to the plants.
- The products aim to improve soil health, reduce emission greenhouse gases.
- It will also ensure up to a 15-30% increase in crop production and reduce the requirement of conventional chemical fertilizer by 50%.
- The move is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for doubling the farmer’s income by 2022.
- IFFCO is to test the first phase of the launch on farms under controlled conditions with support from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).

- AYUSH Minister lauded the success of the CRIUM in the treatment of vitiligo and other chronic and stubborn diseases and it’s perhaps the only medical institution in the world which has treated more than 1.5 lakh patients of Vitiligo alone.

- The Central government is to invite Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro as the chief guest to the Republic Day celebrations 2020.
- India aims to expand its outreach to South America.
- India and Brazil are aiming to finalize Bolsonaro’s maiden trip to India as President.
- If finalized, Bolsonaro would be the third Brazilian President to be invited for Republic Day celebrations. In 1996, Fernando Henrique Cardoso and in 2004, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva visited India.

German to invest 1 billion euros for creating friendly urban mobility

- The Ministry of Defence organized Ambassadors’ Round Table conference on DefExpo 2020.

- The Round Table focused on briefing the representatives of foreign missions based in New Delhi about the arrangements that are made for DefExpo.

Piyush Goyal launched 5th Global Exhibition on Services in New Delhi
- Shri Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry & Railways, launched the curtain raiser of 5th Global Exhibition on Services (GES) in New Delhi on 5th November 2019.
- The exhibition will have been scheduled to be held in Bengaluru from 26th to 28th November 2019.

SCO joint exercise on urban earthquake is to be held from 4 to 7 November
- The Union home minister Amit Shah is to inaugurate the four-day Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) joint exercise on urban earthquake search and rescue on 4 November.

The 8th meeting of the IndoGerman Energy Forum was held in Delhi
- The 8th meeting of the Indo-German Energy Forum (IGEF) was concluded on 1 November 2019 in New Delhi.
- IGEF was co-chaired by Mr. Sanjiv Nandan Sahai, Secretary of Ministry of Power from the Indian side and Mr. Christian Hirte, Secretary of State, Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, Germany.
- The Forum finalized the roadmap for future collaboration between the two countries, including the Flexibilisation of existing coal-fired power plants.

Siemens signs MoUs with NTPC, TERI on decarbonisation, energy transition
- Siemens Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with NTPC Limited to identify, evaluate and set up reference use cases of hydrogen sector-coupling for various upstream and downstream applications.
- The collaboration is aimed at developing innovative technologies, solutions and techniques to reduce the dependence on Hydrocarbons in India.
- Siemens Limited has also inked a separate MoU with TERI for collaboration on technologies to support the energy transition in India including sector-coupling.
- Among the objectives of the MoU with TERI is realizing the research and technology development projects to enable energy transitions across the electricity, transport and industrial sectors.

- He represented India at the Council of Heads of Government meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), which was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

- The first-ever India-Uzbekistan joint military exercise Dustlik-2019 begin at Chirchiq Training Area near Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
- The exercise, which will be focused on counter-terrorism, will continue till November 13. During the exercise, an Indian Army contingent will train along with Uzbekistan Army.
- The exercise will enable the sharing of best practices and experiences between the Armed Forces of the two countries and will lead to greater operational effectiveness.
