HDFC Bank, IOC launch co-branded fuel credit card for users from non-metro cities
- HDFC Bank in partnership with Indian Oil launched a co-branded fuel card for users from non-metro cities and towns which will be available on both RuPay and Visa platforms.
- The card was launched at an event here by IOCL’s Executive Director (Retail Sales) Vigyan Kumar and HDFC Bank’s Country Head, Payments Business and Marketing, Parag Rao.
- The card offers customers highest rewards and benefits on fuel consumption and will be available on both RuPay and Visa platforms.

RBI increased withdrawal limit for PMC Bank to 10,000 rupees
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) increased the withdrawal limit for Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative Bank (PMC) depositors to Rs.10,000.
- Earlier, the limit was set to Rs.1,000.
- RBI also said that 60% of the PMC Bank depositors will now be able to withdraw the entire amount. The relaxation aimed to reduce the hardship of the depositors.

- The Asian Development Bank has slashed its growth forecast for India for fiscal year 2019-20 to 6.5% from 7%.
- The bank lowered the growth rate because of weaker growth in the first quarter due to a slowdown in consumption and investment activities that hit manufacturing and service sectors.

- The latter comes with 50Mbps speed, whereas the DSL plan gives subscribers up to 10Mbps data speed.

- The government launched a multilingual app-based service CHC Farm Machinery for Custom Hiring Centres (CHCs).
- This service will facilitate local farmers with the use of shared resources including tractors and other farm machinery at affordable prices.
- Through KrishiKisan App, the farmer will be provided with information about high-yielding crops and seeds in their nearby area.
- It helps in geo-tagging and geo-fencing of crop and also gives weather forecast messages to farmers.

PM Modi will formally declare India as ODF on 2nd October
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally declare India as Open Defecation Free -ODF on 2nd October during a function to be held in Ahmedabad.

- Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan launched ‘TB HAREGA DESH JEETEGA’ campaign in New Delhi.
- Dr Harsh Vardhan said that India is committed to eradicate TB before 2025.
- He said that one-third of the people in the world have TB bacteria, and 10 per cent of them can become a victim of TB at any time.
Centre institutes national unity award named after Sardar Patel
- The Centre has instituted the highest civilian award for contribution to the unity and integrity of India, in the name of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
- The award seeks to recognize notable and inspiring contributions to promote the cause of national unity and integrity and to reinforce the value of a strong and united India.
- The award will be announced on the occasion of the National Unity Day on the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel on 31st of October.
Centre launched TB Harega Desh Jeetega Campaign
- Centre launched the new Tuberculosis (TB) Harega Desh Jeetega Campaign on 25 September.
- It was launched by Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare. As part of the Ministry’s commitment to end-TB, it has established patient forums in over 95% of all districts in the first 100 days.
- These district forums are expected to highlight on-ground challenges faced by patients and their families in accessing TB care services.
- The TB Harega Desh Jeetega Campaign is committed to ensuring all the TB patients receive free-of-cost, high-quality TB care.
- It aims to improve and expand the reach of pan India TB care services by 2022.
- Care will be provided irrespective of where the patients seek care including the private sector.

J&K becomes first state to issue highest number of golden cards under Ayushman Bharat scheme
- Jammu and Kashmir has become the first state in the country to issue the highest number of golden cards under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).
- Over 11 lakh golden cards have been generated within the first 90 days of the launch of the scheme with 60% of families having at least one golden card which is highest in the country.

Assam Govt launches “Aponar Apon Ghar” scheme
- The Assam Government has launched a housing loan subsidy scheme “Aponar Apon Ghar”.
- The scheme was launched to provide financial assistance on purchase or construction of the first house for a family.
- The subsidy of up to Rs 250000 will be provided for loan amounts from Rs 5,00,000 to Rs 40,00,000.
- The initiative is expected to provide impetus to the economy and led to the expansion of real estate in the state.
- The state government also launched education loan interest subsidy wherein subsidy will be provided to children who have availed education loan for pursuing higher education.
- The one time subsidy will be of Rs 50,000.

New Centre of CIPET will soon be set up at Medak in Telangana
- Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister D V Sadananda Gowda today announced that a new Centre of the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) will soon be set up at Medak in Telangana state.
- He inaugurated the newly constructed Boys Hostel at the CIPET in Hyderabad this morning.
- The Minister said land has already been acquired for the new Centre of the CIPET to offer Under-graduate, Graduate, Post Graduate and PhD courses on 50:50 cost sharing basis.
- The newly constructed boys hostel can accommodate 450 students in the CIPET which conducts diploma and PG Diploma courses in Polymer Science and Technology and conduct many skill development training programs sponsored by various state and central government agencies.

- China unveiled Beijing Daxing International Airport, a futuristic airport, that resembles a giant starfish opened in Beijing.

NTPC signed MoU with Himachal Pradesh govt. to build hydel plants

P.T. Usha honoured with IAAF Veteran Pin
- Indian track and field legend P. T. Usha was presented the Veteran Pin by the world athletics governing body, in recognition of her contribution to the growth of the sport.
- International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) chief Sebastian Coe presented her the Veteran Pin during the 52nd IAAF Congress.
- T. Usha won five gold medals 100m, 200m, 400m, 400m hurdles and the 4x400m relay besides a bronze at the 1985 Asian Games in Jakarta.
- Her most memorable performance came in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics where she became the first Indian to reach the finals of the 400m hurdles but lost the bronze by one-hundredth of a second.

- Italian journalist coverage of mafia activity in Sicily won the Peter Mackler Award.
- Paolo Borrometi, 36, worked for Italian agency AGI before founding the news website La Spia in 2013, where he documented the role of organized crime in local agribusiness.
- The family’s home in the town of Modica targeted in an attempted arson attack.
- He dedicated the prize to three journalists killed while working, including Maltese investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, and Italy’s Antonio Megalizzi and Giulio Regeni.
- The award was established in 2008 to recognize courageous and ethical journalism. It honors the memory of longtime AFP journalist Peter Mackler, who died of a heart attack that year.

- The 5th edition of India International Science Festival (IISF) will be held in Kolkata from November 5-8.
- IISF is the largest science festival in the world.
- The focus will be on youth to inspire and motivate them to learn real science in motion
- THEME: ‘RISEN India – Research, Innovation, and Science Empowering the Nation’.
- The Department of Science & Technology (DST), Department of Biotechnology, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Indian Council of Medical Research and the Ministry of Earth Sciences are major government sponsoring bodies for the event.
- The IISF will also host 28 different events such as Agriculture Scientists’ Meet, Vigyan Samagam, Young Scientists Conference, Vigyanika-International Science Literature Festival, and International Science Film Festival of India.

Telugu actor Venu Madhav passes away
- Telugu film actor Venu Madhav passed away.
- He was popular as a mimicry artist.
- He entered the film industry through the film ‘Sampradayam’ directed by SV Krishna Reddy in 1997.
- His other popular films include ‘Toli Prema’, ‘Dil’, ‘Laxmi’, ‘Simhadri’, ‘Chathrapathi’. His last film was Rudramadevi’.
Former French President Jacques Chirac passed away
- The former French president President Jacques Chirac died on 26 September 2019.
- He has suffered memory loss, a form of Alzheimer’s disease.
- Jacques Chirac was born on 29 November 1932.
- Chirac served as President for two terms, one as prime minister.
- He took France into the single European currency.
