Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh Distributes Electric Chaak to 150 Kumhar Families in Bihar

  • Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) distributed electric potter wheels (chaak) to 150 potter families in East Champaran district in Bihar.
  • Member of Parliament and former Union Agriculture Minister, Shri Radha Mohan Singh distributed electric chaak and other equipment like blunger machines and pug mills to the potters in presence of KVIC Chairman Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena.
  • This initiative will benefit nearly 600 persons of the Kumhar community in East Champaran district.
  • The pottery equipment have been distributed under Kumhar Sashaktikaran Yojana of the KVIC which aims at strengthening the marginalized potters’ community and increasing their income by enhancing their productivity.
  • KVIC has set a target of distributing 500 electric chaak in Bihar in order to empower the potters’ community and create local livelihood opportunities.

  • The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 21 September 2020 to promote adventure sports activities at Tehri Lake.
  • As per the MoU, the Rajiv Gandhi Adventure Sports Academy at Tehri Lake will now be administered and managed by ITBP for a period of 20 years, which will be used by ITBP for development of tourism and water sports in Tehri Dam.
  • ITBP will train over 200 candidates selected by the state government or tourism department every year free of cost.

Laser-guided ATGM successfully test-fired by DRDO

  • The Defence Ministry informed on September 23, 2020, that the Laser-guided Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) has been successfully test-fired from MBT Arjun Tank at KK Ranges, Armoured Corps centre and school (ACC&S), Ahmednagar.
  • The testing took place on September 22, 2020.
  • The ministry further informed that ATGM successfully defeated a target located at 3 km during the tests.

IIT Madras Develops and Boots up ‘MOUSHIK’ Microprocessor for IoT Devices

  • Indian Institute of Technology Madras Researchers have successfully booted up ‘MOUSHIK,’ an indigenously-made Microprocessor.
  • MOUSHIK is a processor cum ‘system on chip’ that can cater to the rapidly-growing IoT devices, an integral part of Smart Cities of a Digital India.
  • ‘MOUSHIK’ was conceptualized, designed and developed at the Pratap Subrahmanyam Centre for Digital Intelligence and Secure Hardware Architecture (PS-CDISHA) of the RISE Group, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Madras.

  • Noted Indian Historian and author Romila Thapar has written a new book titled “Voices of Dissent”

  • Chef Vikas Khanna has authored a book titled “Kitchens of Gratitude” in which he has written about his Feed India initiative.
  • Feed India initiative is one of the largest food drives in the world, serving meals to the underprivileged.
  • The book will be released in 2021.

  • Union Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi has passed away after he contracted coronavirus disease.
  • He was 65-years-old.
  • He is the first member of the Union Cabinet to die due to coronavirus.
  • Suresh Angadi was a four-time Lok Sabha MP from Karnataka’s Belagavi constituency. He was elected in 2004, 2014 and 2019.
