DSCI, MeitY and Google India join hands for ‘Digital Payment Abhiyan’

  • Nasscom’s Data Security Council of India (DSCI) collaborated with the electronics and IT ministry (MeitY) and Google India to launch a nationwide awareness campaign ‘Digital Payment Abhiyan’.
  • Communications and Electronics & IT Minister launched the campaign that will educate end-users on the benefits of making digital payments and urge them to adopt security and safety best practices.
  • The campaign was launched at the Google for India event.
  • To drive the campaign objectives and amplify outreach to users across all states, DSCI has onboarded various digital payments, ecosystem partners.
  • These partners include representation from banking, card networks as well as a fin-tech segment.

  • Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched “Champions Campaign” to fight dengue and urged citizens to become ‘champions’ and encourage 10 friends to check their homes for mosquito larvae.
  • Earlier, he had also launched 10Hafte 10Baje 10Minute campaign.
  • He had urged the Delhi residents to give 10 minutes every Sunday to check the surroundings to prevent the breeding of dengue-carrier mosquitoes.

  • The 2020 QS World University Rankings: Graduate Employability included revaluation of 758 institutions that comprises a 15% increase in the number of institutions on previous year’s edition.

India and Mongolia signed MoUs on space cooperation

  • India and Mongolia signed MoUs on space cooperation and disaster management during the visit of the Mongolian President in India.
  • The aim of the MoU is to provide a new dimension to the India-Mongolia strategic partnership.
  • Another MoU was signed between the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) of Mongolia and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of India for disaster risk reduction.
  • The two countries took stock of the project to build a Cyber Security Training Centre to be established in Mongolia with Indian support.
  • The military exercises between India and Mongolia named Nomadic Elephant and Khaan Quest are expected to be broadened.

IDBI Bank appoints Samuel Joseph as Deputy Managing Director

  • IDBI Bank’s Board of Directors has approved the appointment of Samuel Joseph Jebaraj as Deputy Managing Director (DMD) for a period of 3 years.
  • He currently serves as Chief General Manager of the Loan Administration and Human Resources Management Groups of the Bank.
  • The decision has been taken as per the approval received by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
  • This is the first major appointment on the Bank’s Board, in which LIC acquired a majority stake of 51 per cent in January 2019.

  • Indian Army conducted Exercise Changthang Prahar, a rare exercise in Eastern Ladakh bordering China.

ISRO to prioritize Gaganyaan mission

  • Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chief K Sivan has announced that the Chandrayaan-2 mission has achieved 98% of its objectives.
  • The Space Agency confirmed that the lander is intact as a single-piece and not broken into pieces.
  • Chandrayaan-2 mission aimed at science and technology demonstration which was almost achieved fully.
  • The lunar mission was India’s first attempt at landing a spacecraft on the moon.
  • ISRO has announced its next priority mission Gaganyaan.
  • The most ambitious manned mission has been scheduled to be launched in 2022.
  • Gaganyaan’s mission aims to send the astronauts to space and bring them back to earth safely.

  • Bollywood’s famous horror film producer Shyam Ramsay passed away.
  • He pioneered the horror genre on Indian television by giving us the first horror series- The Zee Horror Show which ran from 1993 to 2001.
