  • RBL Bank and Samsung India jointly launched the Samsung Pay for RBL Bank’s Mastercard credit card customers.
  • The tie-up will allow the customers of RBL bank to make contactless transactions with enhanced security on their Samsung Pay-compatible smart phones efficiently.

GST collection in August stands at Rs 98,202 cr

  • GST collection in the month of August stood at 98 thousand 202 crore rupees.
  • The total number of GSTR 3B Returns filed for the month of July up to 31st of August is around 76 lakh.
  • The government has settled 23 thousand 165 crore rupees to CGST and 16 thousand 623 crore rupees to SGST from IGST as a regular settlement.

CGHS services to be made available in 100 cities by 2022

  • Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan launched a new scheme of Annual Health Check-up for CGHS beneficiaries who are pensioners of the age of 75 years and above.
  • He also inaugurated state-of-the-art CGHS Bhawan in New Delhi.
  • CGHS services should be made available in 100 cities by 2022.
  • The CGHS services which started in 1954 from Delhi expanded to only 25 cities till 2014.
  • In the last five years under the NDA Government, the services have been extended to as many as 71 cities.

Varun Dhawan’s ‘Coolie No.1’ first Bollywood film set to go plastic-free

  • Bollywood has taken lead to promote India’s plastic free movement with Varun Dhawan’s upcoming movie “Coolie No. 1”.
  • Coolie No. 1 become the first Bollywood film to go plastic-free.

EC launches Electors Verification Programme

  • The Election Commission launched new mega Electors Verification Programme (EVP) across the country.
  • The programme, which seeks to electoral rolls through crowdsourcing, will go on till 15th of October.
  • Under the programme, a voter from each family will get a username and password, allowing a person to upload all documents related to electoral registration and tag similar details about his or her family members.
  • The EVP programme can be effected both online and offline.
  • On the occasion of the nationwide mega million launch of Electors Verification Programme, a special camp was held at Election Commission Headquarters in New Delhi.

September month to be celebrated as ‘Rashtriya Poshan Maah’

  • The entire month of September beginning today will be celebrated as the Rashtriya Poshan Maah.
  • This year the theme is Complementary Feeding. Prime Minister’s Overreaching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment – POSHAN Abhiyaan is a multi- ministerial convergence mission with the vision to address malnutrition with a targeted approach by 2022.
  • Due to lack of awareness, both poor and affluent families are affected by it.

Govt puts restrictions on imports of Agarbatti

  • Union government has put restrictions on the import of Agarbatti and other similar products.
  • Now importers of these goods require a licence from the government.
  • Restrictions have also been imposed on imports of other odoriferous preparations used for deodorizing room.

HM Amit Shah to address BJP’s Maha Janadesh Yatra

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address BJP’s Maha Janadesh Yatra in Solapur, Maharashtra.
  • Mr Shah will join Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the Yatra in Solapur district.
  • The Home Minister will first arrive in Dadra and Nagar Haveli where he will inaugurate several projects in the morning at the SSR College in Silvassa.

Culture & Tourism Minister inaugurates gallery of confiscated & retrieved antiquities at Purana Quila

  • Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel on Saturday inaugurated gallery of confiscated and retrieved antiquities at Purana Quila in New Delhi.
  • It is a matter of pride that it has been possible to retrieve the historical pieces of the heritage from abroad.
  • The retrieved items will enhance the knowledge about our rich culture and heritage.
  • The gallery was established by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
  • The displayed antiquities will sensitize the public towards the illegal trade of nation’s heritage. The gallery will remain open for public from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M.

Tinsukia Junction becomes 4000th railway station to get free public WiFi

  • Tinsukia Junction in northeast region has become the 4000th railway station in the country to have free public WiFi.
  • According to the Indian Railway, on average they have been rolling out WiFi in 83 stations every day.
  • RailTel CMD Puneet Chawla said that the journey started from Mumbai Central in January 2016 and in the coming few weeks all railway stations over Indian Railway (except the halt stations) will have fast and free Railwire WiFi.
  • Indian Railway is the largest public transport of the country, while free WiFi is a pro-passenger initiative of the Ministry which in line the Prime Minister’s ‘Digital India’ programme.

VP M Venkaiah Naidu dedicates country’s longest electrified rail tunnel to nation

  • In Andhra Pradesh, Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu today dedicated the country’s longest electrified rail tunnel between Cherlopalli and Rapuru and the electrified railway line between Venkatachalam and Obulavaripalli.
  • The length of the rail tunnel is 6.6 kilometre.
  • Vice-President also flagged-off a new inter-city super fast express train between Guduru and Vijayawada.

Development projects inaugurated in Dadra & Nagar Haveli

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah dedicated series of developmental projects at Silvassa the headquarters of Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
  • Shah also laid the foundation stone for education hub at Zanda Chowk and Tokarkhada in Silvassa which will come up at the cost of Rs.61 crore.
  • This will cater to the educational needs of more than 15 thousand students, which accounts for 27 per cent of the total school students of the union territory.
  • The Project includes a paramedical Institute building at the cost of Rs 8 crore.

Union cabinet approves establishment of 75 new medical colleges

  • Union Ministers Prakash Javadekar and Piyush Goyal the government approved the establishment of 75 new medical colleges in the country.
  • The main addition would lead to the creation of 15,700 more MBBS seats in India.

Airports to get Full body scanner

  • Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has announced that all airports in the country will be equipped with full-body scanners in the next two years.
  • BCAS has made it mandate to equip all airports with body scanners.
  • The introduction of such scanning is to improve the security in all the airport.
  • The current equipment at airports cannot detect non-metallic explosives.

Leh: Fire and Fury Corps celebrates 20th Raising Day

  • It was on September 1, 1999, in the aftermath of the Kargil War that this elite Corps was raised.
  • The elite Fire and Fury Corps today celebrated its 20th raising day at Leh, with all its personnel reaffirming their wholehearted support to the people of Ladakh region.
  • Fire and Fury Corps, Lieutenant General Yogesh Kumar Joshi led his men to lay the wreath at a solemn ceremony to honour the ‘martyrs of Ladakh’ at war memorial, Hall of Fame, at Leh.

Arun Jaitley’s statue to be installed in Bihar

  • Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said a statue of former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley would be installed in Patna.
  • Mr Kumar also announced that Jaitley’s birthday on 28th of December would be celebrated as state function every year.
  • Jaitley who became the BJP’s In-charge for Bihar in 2005, played a very big role in the formation of the NDA government in the state.

TamilNadu signs three agreements for healthcare collaborations in UK

  • Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami signed three agreements for collaboration in the healthcare sector on the first day of his UK tour.
  • The Chief Minister is on the first leg of his three-nation tour.
  • The three agreements, two were Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) and one was Statement of Intent.
  • The one MoU was signed between the government of Tamil Nadu and International Skills Development Corporation.
