PM announced the road map for farmer welfare

  • The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the roadmap for the welfare of farmers.
  • It also aims to provide house, electricity connection, optical fibre network and broadband connectivity to every house in all the villages across the country.
  • Under the welfare of the farmers plan, 1.5 lakh wellness centers will be created at villages. It also aims to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers which can affect the health of soil.

Aadi Mahotsav is being celebrated at Leh Ladakh

  • The Aadi Mahotsav, a National Tribal Festival, is celebrated at Polo Ground in Leh-Ladakh. It is a 9 day event that starts from 17th August to 25th August.
  • THEME: ‘A celebration of the spirit of Tribal Craft, Culture and Commerce’.
  • The festival was inaugurated by the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Satya Pal Malik and Arjun Munda, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs.

TamilNadu awards people on various categories on the 73rd Independence Day

  • TamilNadu Chief Minister Shri Edappadi K Palaniswami conferred awards to people and organizations at Fort St. George on various categories on the 73rd Independence day celebration.
  • It was conferred to Greater Chennai Police Commissionerate for the installation of ‘Third Eye’ CCTV (closed-circuit television).
  • They provide 24*7 assistance to migrate to GST(Goods and Service Tax) system Chennai received certificate of appreciation for creating sensory parks for differently abled children under smart city project.

Online revenue payment system launched by CM of Odisha

  • Chief Minister of Odisha Shri Naveen Patnaik launched online revenue payment
  • AIM: to provide people with an easier way to make their land revenue payments-online on 73rd Independence Day on August 15, 2019, at Bhubaneswar.
  • This online payment system was developed at the National Informatics Centre- Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
  • This is an initiative of the State revenue department of Odisha under the “5-T mantra”.
  • The 5T mantras are based on Technology, Transparency, Team work, Time and Transformation.
  • Mahatma Gandhi’s talisman dedicated as part of his 150th birth anniversary.

Chhattisgarh state government increases reservation for SC and OBC

  • Chhattisgarh government announced an increase in the reservation for Scheduled caste (SC) from 12% to 13% and for Other Backward Classes (OBC) from 14% to 27%.
  • This announcement was made by Chief Minister (CM) Shri Bhupesh Baghel
  • The state’s reservation becomes a total of 72 percent is the highest in the country The reservation limit of 50 percent mandated by the Supreme court.
  • The “Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi” which will be carved out of Bilaspur. This is done for better administration of the state. The state will have total districts to 28.
  • The govt. will be launching a new scheme ‘Suposhan Abhiyan’ on October 2 2019 to fight malnutrition across the state.

TamilNadu trifurcates Vellore district to form new districts

  • TamilNadu Shri Edappadi K Palaniswami made an announcement on trifurcation of Vellore district. Ranipet and Tirupattur will be the new districts carved out of Vellore.
  • After the trifurcation, TamilNadu now has 37 districts. The announcement on August 15, 2019, Independence Day celebration at Fort St George in Chennai, TamilNadu.
  • The Ministry conducted a series of meet with all the stakeholders including state governments gathering to eliminate the use of single-use plastic.

PM is on a two day state visit to Bhutan

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day state visit to Bhutan.
  • The two leader will hold talks to further deepen the bilateral ties.
  • This is PM Modi’s second visit to Bhutan and the first since his re-election.
  • PM Modi is expected to sign 10 MoUs in fields like education amongst others and inaugurate 5 projects including the Mangdechhu hydroelectric power plant and the ISRO-built earth station in Thimphu.

  • Fifth BRICS Minister of Environment Meeting held in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It is preceded by the 2-day meeting of BRICS Joint Working Group on Environment.
  • The Indian delegation led by Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Prakash Javadekar.
  • The BRICS Ministers delegations to join at 14th CoP (Conference of Parties ) scheduled to be held from 2 – 13 September 2019 and contribute to the efforts to combat desertification and land degradation.
  • The massive campaign that will be launched to make India free of single-use plastic.The Ministers of BRICS countries underlined the” Partnership on Urban Environmental Sustainability Initiative (PUESI)”.
