Skill India gets its first Batch of IES officers to the ISDS cadre

  • The fresh batch of the newest central government services, the Indian Skill Development Services(ISDS) commenced their training program at the Administrative Training Institute (ATI) in Mysuru, Karnataka.
  • These are the first batch which is joining the ISDS cadre from the Indian Engineering Service Examination conducted by UPSC.
  • The aim for this is to attract young and talented administrators towards institutionalizing the Skill Development environment in the country.
  • The induction of young talent as ISDS officers is one of the special initiatives taken by the Ministry of Skill Development And Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and the government as a whole.

ONGC to invest more than Rs 13,000 cr to raise its oil & gas exploration in Assam

  • The ONGC will invest more than 13,000 crore rupees to raise its oil and gas exploration in Assam.
  • The company will be drilling more than 220 oil and gas wells throughout the state in next five years.
  • ONGC has already signed an MoU with Assam government to enhance its operation in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for reducing oil and gas import by 10 percent by 2022.

  • The iconic Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in New Delhi has been renamed as Arun Jaitley Cricket stadium.
  • In a ceremony held at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium this evening, Union Home Minister Amit Shah digitally inaugurated the renamed Cricket Stadium in presence of late finance minister and sports administrator’s family.
  • Arun Jaitley served as the President of the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) as well as the vice-president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Ministry of information announced the accessibility of TV programs for hearing impaired

  • Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced the implementation of television Programmes for the deaf audience.
  • The announcement was made by the Minister of I&B Prakash Javadekar on 11 September 2019. It will be effective from 18 September 2019.

PM Modi to launch pension schemes from Jharkhand

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate ‘Pradhan Mantri Kisan Mandhan Yojana’ to the nation.
  • He will also launch the ‘Pradhan Mantri Laghu Vyaparik Mandhan Yojana’ and ‘Swarojgar’ pension schemes.
  • The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the new building of the Jharkhand Assembly and a multi-modal terminal at Sahibganj.
  • Prime Minister will lay the foundation stones online for 462 Eklavya Model Schools across the country, of which 69 will be established in 13 of Jharkhand’s 24 districts.
  • He will also lay the foundation stone for a new building of Jharkhand Secretariat.
  • “Monthly pension under ‘Pradhan Mantri Kisan Mandhan Yojana’ is being introduced as a social security to farmers.
  • Under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Laghu Vyaparik Mandhan Yojana’ and ‘Swarojgar’ pension schemes, beneficiaries between 18 and 40 years will get Rs 3,000 per month after completing 60 years of age.

AP to launch village level secretariats from October 2

  • The Andhra Pradesh government is getting ready to launch village-level secretariats from October 2, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.
  • Each secretariat will employ ten persons from the village.
  • Four lakh jobs will be generated at a go once these village secretariats become operational.
  • The State government has also employed grama (village) volunteers in villages, paying them honorarium of Rs 5,000 a month.

Rs 250-cr Mega Food Park set up in Telangana

  • Union Minister for Food processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal inaugurated the first Mega Food Park in Telangana promoted by Smart Agro Food Park at Lakkampally village in Nizamabad district.
  • Mega Food Park will leverage an additional investment of about Rs 250 crore in 22 food processing units and generate a turnover of about Rs 14,000 crore.
  • It will also provide 50,000 direct and indirect jobs and benefit about one lakh farmers.
  • Mega Food parks are aimed at facilitating doubling of farmer’s income by 2022.
  • Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi is a government initiative in which all small and marginal farmers will get up to Rs 6,000.
  • The government provides financial assistance up to Rs 50 crore per Mega Food Park project.
  • The Smart Agro Mega Food Park has been set up in 78 acre of land at a cost of Rs 108.95 crore.

Maha CM approves Rs 1680 cr water supply scheme for Aurangabad

  • Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today approved a 1680.50 crore rupees water supply scheme for Aurangabad in Marathwada region.
  • Around 16 lakh people of Aurangabad will be benefitted by the scheme which envisages supply of water directly from the Jayakwadi dam.
  • Marathwada comprising eight districts has traditionally been a low-rainfall area.
  • The region has been reeling under drought conditions for the last four years.

Haryana launches two insurance schemes for traders

  • The State Government of Haryana launched two insurance schemes for registered small and medium traders.
  • The schemes are Mukhyamantri Vyapari Samuhik Niji Durghatna Beema Yojana and Mukhyamantri Vyapari Kshatipurti Beema Yojana.
  • The insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh would be provided under the Mukhyamantri Vyapari Samuhik Niji Durghatna Beema Yojana.
  • The insurance cover ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 25 lakh would be provided under the Mukhyamantri Vyapari Kshatipurti Beema Yojana.

CM Devendra Fadnavis flags off trial run of Navi Mumbai Metro Line one

  • Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis flagged off the trial run of the first Belapur to Pendhar Metro rail project in Navi Mumbai.
  • The four lines proposed for Navi Mumbai Metro Line one have a total of 11 stations on the 11.10 km corridor being constructed at a cost of Rs 3,063 crore.
  • Navi Mumbai Metro make the commute easy for inhabitants residing at Kharghar, Taloja and Pendar. The travel time to reach Taloja from Belapur is 45 minutes.

India hosts first conference on military medicine for SCO member nations

  • India is hosting the first conference on military medicine for member nations of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation in New Delhi.

INS Khanderi to be commissioned into the Indian Navy

  • India’s 2nd Scorpene-class submarine, INS Khanderi will be commissioned into the Indian Navy by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
  • The conventional diesel-electric submarine has been manufactured by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd in Mumbai.
  • The first Scorpene-class submarine INS Kalvari was commissioned into the Indian Navy in December 2017.

DRDO successfully tests indigenous anti-tank guided missile (MPATGM)

  • The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully flight tested an indigenously-developed low weight, fire and forget Man-Portable Antitank Guided Missile (MPATGM) in the ranges of Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
  • This is the third series of successful testing of MPATGM.
  • The missile is incorporated with state-of-the-art Infrared Imaging Seeker along with advanced avionics.
  • The test paves the way for the Army to have developed third-generation man-portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile indigenously.
