Oracle opens first India data centre in Mumbai

  • Oracle unveiled its first India data centre in Mumbai followed by another one in Hyderabad early next year.

  • Indian data centre already become the fastest growing cloud data centre for Oracle globally even as the company officially opened it up for all customers.

“India International Cooperatives Trade Fair” inaugurated

  • The 1st ever ‘India International Cooperatives Trade Fair’ has been inaugurated in New Delhi.
  • The 3 day Fair is a major platform to promote export of products of cooperatives which will lead to enhanced rural and farm prosperity.
  • Organisations from 35 countries and more than 150 Indian cooperatives are participating in the Fair.
  • Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar also launched ‘Yuva Sahakar’ Cooperative Enterprise Support and Innovation Scheme 2019.

Pithoragarh-Hindon commercial flight operations launched

  • The first commercial flight from Hindon civil airport adjacent to the Air Force’s Hindon airbase operated yesterday when a nine-seater plane took off for Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district.
  • The flight operations were launched by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat at a brief ceremony held at the Hindon airport in NCR Ghaziabad.
  • The flight service will be available six days a week except on Thursdays.
  • It is being seen as a major boost to air connectivity between the border district and New Delhi.

Mumbai 12th wealthiest city in the world

  • According to a report by New World Health Mumbai is the 12th richest city in the world with a total wealth of $960 billion,
  • It is the only Indian city to feature in the top 20 list of wealthiest cities in the world.
  • Delhi is on 22nd position and second Indian city after Mumbai on the wealth intelligence firm’s The Wealthiest Cities Worldwide in 2019 list.
  • Bangalore is on 26th spot while Hyderabad came last at 28.
  • New York City (NYC) topped the list with a total wealth of $3.0 trillion.
  • Tokyo won a second with a total wealth amounting to $2.5 trillion.

Forbes India Rich List 2019

  • The business magazine Forbes has released “The Forbes India Rich List 2019” which has been topped by Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani with net worth of $51.4 billion.
  • Mukesh Ambani remained the richest Indian for the 12th year in a row.
  • Industrialist Gautam Adani jumped 8 spots on the list to become the 2nd richest Indian with net worth of $15.7 billion.
  • The magazine stated that it was ‘a challenging year’ for the Indian economy.

India extends over 60 million dollar line of credit to Comoros for Energy and Maritime Defence Cooperation

  • India will extend a Line of Credit of over 60 million US Dollars to Comoros in the field of energy and maritime defence cooperation.
  • India will extend a Line of Credit of over 41.6 million US Dollars for setting up of 18 MW Power Plant in Moroni and another 20 million US Dollars for the procurement of High-Speed Interceptor Boats.

Virat Kohli becomes first Indian to smash 40 international hundreds as Indian captain

  • Virat Kohli became only the fifth Indian batsman to score 250 in a Test innings after Virender Sehwag, Karun Nair, VVS Laxman, and Rahul Dravid on the second day of the second Test match against South Africa at the Mumbai Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
  • Virat Kohli scripted his name in the record books he scored a record seventh double hundred of his career, became the first Indian captain to score 250 plus in a single Test inning.

2nd edition of India-Bangladesh CORPAT begins

  • The 2nd edition of Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) of the navies of India and Bangladesh has begun in Northern Bay of Bengal.
  • Guided-missile destroyer INS Ranvijay and ingeniously built missile Corvette INS Kuthar are participating in the exercise along with BNS Ali Haider and BNS Shadinota from Bangladesh.
  • The exercise aims at development of mutual communication and sharing of best practices between the two navies.
  • The India Bangladesh CORPAT commenced in 2018.

India, Japan to hold joint military exercise in Mizoram

  • India and Japan will hold a joint military exercise in Mizoram from 19th of October to 2nd of November, 2019.
