All About New Chief of Indian Air Force: The government has appointed Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria as the new chief of Indian Air Force. RKS Bhadauria, who is currently vice chief of air staff, will take over the post of chief of Air staff after his predecessor BS Dhanoa retires on September 30.
All About New Chief of Indian Air Force RKS Bhadauria:
- Bhaduaria was commissioned into the fighter pilot stream of Indian Air Force in June 1980, and has held various Commands, Staff and instructional appointments at various levels including the present one as Vice Chief of Air Staff.
- He has clocked over 4250 hours of flying and has experience of 26 different types of fighters.
- During his nearly four decades of career, Bhadauria commanded a Jaguar squadron and a premier Air Force Station.
- During 36 years of his career, he has been awarded several medals: the AtiVishishtSeva Medal, the VayuSena Medal and the ParamVishishtSeva Medal.
His Participation in Rafale:
- Bhadauria’s ability in dealing with the defence industry and development programs gave him the recognition to head the Indian negotiating team for the procurement of the 36 Rafale jets, when he was the IAF’s Deputy Chief from 2016 to 2017.
- In view of his commitment, his initials- RB008- will be the tail number of the first Rafale produced for India.
- Bhadauria had taken a sortie in a Rafale during the Indo-Frence exercise, Garuda, from the French Air Force base of Mont-de-Marsan. He had called it a ‘game changer’ against India’s adversaries, including Pakistan.

- Air Attache at the Indian Embassy in Moscow
- Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Projects)
- Commandant of the National Defence Academy
- Deputy Chief of the Air Staff at Air Head Quarter
- Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Air Command.
- He was appointed honorary Aide De Campe to the President of India in January this year.
- Chief Test Pilot and Project Director of the National Flight Test Centre on Light Comb.
