Hello and welcome to ExamPundit. Here is a set of Quantitative Aptitude Quiz for IBPS Clerk Prelims 2015.

1. The difference
between 55% of a number and 14% of the same number is 8610. What is 85% of that

number ?
1) 17850
2) 15820
3) 17020
4) 18450
5) None of these

Solutions –
2. Rekha’s monthly
income is two-third of Sumitra’s monthly income. Sumitra’s annual income is

Rs.4,32,000. What is Rekha’s annual
income? (In some cases monthly income and in some cases annual

2) Rs.2,63,500
3) Rs.2,48,200
4) Rs.2,88,000
5) None of these

Solutions – Rekha’s annual income =  (2/3 x 432000) = Rs. 288000

3. At present Nisha
is three times Preeti’s age. After seven years Nisha will be twice Preeti’s age
then.
How many times will Nisha’s
age be in another fourteen years time with respect to Preeti’s age then ?
1) 1
2) 3
3) 2
4) 1.5
5) None of these

Solutions –  Preeti’s present age = x years

Nisha’s present age = 3x years
After seven years,
3x + 7 = 2 (x + 7)
3x + 7 = 2x + 14
x = 7
Preeti’s present age = 7 years
Nisha’s present age = 21 years
After another 14 years i.e. after 21 years
Preeti’s age = 28 years
Nisha’s age = 42 years
Required answer = 42/28 = 1.5
4. Nirmalya got 102
marks in Hindi, 118 marks in Science, 104 marks in Sanskrit, 114 marks in Maths
and
96 marks in English. The maximum
marks of each subject are 120. How much overall percentage of
marks did Nirmalya get?
1) 89
2) 82
3) 77
4) 71
5) None of these

Solutions – Total marks obtained by Nirmalya = 102 + 118 + 104 + 114 +
96 = 534

Total maximum marks = 120 × 5 = 600

Required percentage 534/600 x 100 = 89

5. 6 women alone can
complete a piece of work in 10 days, whereas 10 children alone take 15 days to

complete the same piece of work. How
many days will 6 women and 10 children together take to
complete the piece of work ?
1) 7
2) 8
3) 6
4) 4
5) None of these

Solutions – In 1 day (6 × 10) women can complete the piece of work and
in 1 day (10 × 15) childrenmncan complete the same piece of work.

So, 6 × 10 women ≡ 10 × 15 children
= 2 women ≡ 5 children
So, 6 women + 10 children = (15 + 10) children = 25 children
So, M1D1 = M2D2
So, 10 × 15 = 25 × D2
D2 = 10×15/25 = 6 days
Directions (Q. 6-10)
: What should come in place of the question mark (?) in the followingnumber
series?
6. 2 14 84 420 1680
5040 ?
1) 8940 2) 8680 3) 10080 4) 5030 5) None of these

Solutions – The pattern of the number series is as given below:

2 × 7 = 14
14 × 6 = 84
84 × 5 = 420
420 × 4 = 1680
1680 × 3 = 5040

5040 × 2 = 10080

7. 3 58 13 21 34 ?
1) 62 2) 57 3) 55 4) 74 5) None of these

Solutions –  The pattern of the number series is as given below:

3 + 5 = 8
8 + 5 = 13
13 + 8 = 21
21 + 13 = 34
34 + 21 = 55
8. 1 2 6 21 ? 445
2676
1) 88 2) 77 3) 52 4) 64 5) None of these

Solutions – The pattern of the number series is as given below:

1 × 1 + 1 = 2
2 × 2 + 2 = 6
6 × 3 + 3 = 21
21 × 4 + 4 = 88
88 × 5 + 5 = 445
9. 27 125 ? 729 1331
2197 3375
1) 612 2) 347 3) 216 4) 343 5) None of these

Solutions –  The pattern of the number series is as given below:

33 = 27 ; 53 = 125
73 = 343 ; 93 = 729
113 = 1331, 133 = 21973
153 = 3375
10. 10400 2600 650 ?
40.625 10.15625 2.5390625
1) 175.5 2) 162.5 3) 154.75 4) 156.25 5) None of these

Solutions – The pattern of the number series is as given below:

10400 ÷ 4 = 2600
2600 ÷ 4 = 650
650 ÷ 4 = 162.5
162.5 ÷ 4 = 40.625
40.625 ÷ 4 = 10.15625
