Did SBI Previously Announce There May Be No Sectional Cut-off?

Hello and welcome to exampundit. A buzz going around about the Sectional Cut-off in SBI PO Mains 2017. After the result was declared, it was noticed by all the aspirants that SBI did not have any sectional cut-off.

However, the reason of the debate was that SBI did not mention that there will be no sectional cut-off. It is a fact that Banks/Exam Conducting Authorities should mention clearly what are the odds that is why the outrage is justified.

In the recent week, some of our aspirants pointed out that RRB’s sectional cut-off text is different than the SBI.

We looked up and found it true.

SBI never assured that SECTIONAL CUT-OFF is Mandatory or Compulsory.

If you read their text, it is written(_handout link_)

Objective Test : The Objective Test of 3 hours duration consists of 4 Sections for total 200 marks. The Objective
Test will have separate timing for every section. The candidates are required to qualify in each of the tests by
securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.

Which means, SBI has the right to keep a passing mark for any of test as per the performance. So if most of the aspirants did not perform overall good or there was low marks in particular section(s), SBI can easily remove the sectional cut-off.

However, if you read IBPS RRB’s handout, it is written: (_handout link_)

Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each test of Online Main examination to be
considered to be shortlisted for interview.
Depending on the number of vacancies available, adequate
number of candidates in each category not exceeding three times of the declared vacancies in each state
shall be called for interview, subject to availability.

Which is a clear instruction that there will be sectional cut-off.

The only thing we can suggest our aspirants is that Always Read The Information Handouts.

Now only when IBPS releases the Call Letters with the handout we will find out whether IBPS will have Sectional Cut-off like IBPS RRB of SBI PO.
