1. SBI
and Magicbricks are launching the “Seal the Deal” campaign. Under Seal The
Deal, SBI and Magicbricks will be hosting a mega online property show for SBI

2. Paytm
has received final approval of the Reserve Bank to formally launch its payments
bank and it expects to start operations next month. Payments banks can accept

3. Small
Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has tied up with Life Insurance
Corporation of India (LIC) for augmenting capital support to enterprises in the

give a boost to the venture capital ecosystem for MSMEs.

5. Japan
has decided to associate itself with the development of Chennai, Varanasi and
Ahmedabad as smart cities. As per the plan, every city will receive Center’s
assistance of Rs 200 crore in the first year and Rs 100 crore over the three
subsequent financial years. The Government plans to transform about 100 cities
by 2019-20.

6. Prime
Minister Narendra Modi on 8 January 2016 announced that the government is

16th meeting of the Financial Stability and Development Council (FSDC) was held
on 5 January 2017 in New Delhi. The major issues discussed in the meeting are

opportunities associated with financial technology.

11. Kerala
has been pegged as a ‘Destination to Watch’ in 2017 by one of the UK’s largest
and most influential body of travel agents and tour operators. ‘God’s Own
Country’ is the only Indian entry in the list of 12 tourist hotspots brought
out by the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA). The list, featured in
ABTA’s ‘Travel Trends Report 2017’, has Kerala in the eighth spot — higher than
premier destinations like the US, South Africa and Vietnam.

for equipping Axiom Research Lab’s lunar rover with two latest-generation
CASPEX micro-cameras which was developed by CNES in partnership with French
firm 3DPlus.

standards in the country by instilling a sense of competition between the
cities.
