  7. A
  8. B

Solutions

1.Let P = passed students and failed students = F. So
45 × 100 = 50 × P + 40 × F and P + F = 100. Solve for F
and P, we will get P = 50.

2. Sum of the weight of 25 students
= (25 × 16)kg
Sum of the weight of first 12 students
= (14 × 12)kg = 168 kg
Sum of the weight of last 12 students
= (17 × 12) kg = 204 kg
Weight of the thirteenth student
= (400 – 168 – 204) kg = 28 kg

3. Total age of remaining 40 girls
= (80 × 20 – 20 × 22 – 20 × 24) years
= (1600 – 440 – 480) years
= 680 years
 Required average age = 680/40 = 17 years

4. Average height

= 146 + 154 + 164 + 148 + 158/5 = 770/5 = 154 cm

5. James’ age = F – 30
Sister’s age = F – 35
M = 24 + Sister’s age
M = 24 + F – 35
F – M = 11
6.

7.  Rohit = x, Ronit = x+10
(x + 10) – 15 = 2 (x – 15)
Solve, x = 25
Ronit’s 6 years after = x + 10 + 6
= 41
8. 8x + 18/13x + 18 = 5/7
56x + 126 = 65x + 90
9x = 36
X = 4
B = 13 × 4 + 18 = 70
